Crown Court’s decree on Spot-fixing: A fateful day in the history of Pakistan cricket
The 1st of November proved to be a dreadful day for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418 were consigned severe punishments and penalties by the Southwark Crown Court of United Kingdom
following their involvement in the spot-fixing practice proved to be true.
This grisly incident added insult to injury in Pakistan cricket which is already awash with scandals, rifts and problems. Many cricket crazy Pakistanis shed tears for the threesome who gambled their sky rocketing careers and earned utter disgrace to their
nation, especially Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which is no more left with credibility in the world comity of cricket.
Almost all of the cricket analysts and experts are clear about the fact that Butt and Asif will not be able to resume their international careers after setting free from jails. Only a few have a little hope that Amir may return to action as his age will
permit him to do so.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 staged his international debut in 2003 and represented Pakistan in 33 Test, 78 ODI and 24 T20I matches before being banned. With his superb batting skills, he rose to the rank of Test captaincy in a very young age.
Asif appeared on the world stage in 2005 and stunned all with his tremendous bowling skills. The Pakistanis were expecting to have another http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193. In his 23 Tests, 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is, Asif grabbed 106, 46 and 13 wickets respectively.
Amir is the younger and newer of the three. The 19-year-old played his maiden international match in 2009, but every cricket fan rated him hundred percent seeing the way he used to bowl and take wickets. Playing just 14 Test, 15 ODI and 18 T20I games, he
picked up 51 , 25 and 23 wickets respectively.
Indeed, it will be an irreparable loss for the Men in Green who cannot get such brilliant players for many years to come. Those, who witnessed Amir and Asif grabbing wickets with their fiery deliveries and Butt amassing runs with sterling shots, know better
the value of the trio, but gone time is hard to retrieve. There is no use to cry over spilt milk.
The thing that needs to be done at the moment by the PCB is to take some drastic measures to prevent such type of chaos in the future and ensure maximum transparency in the game, both at domestic and international level. Though the board has taken some steps
in this regard but this is not sufficient to eradicate the possibility of corruption.
The most important proactive measure can be to teach the teenaged cricketers about the Dos and Don’ts of the games, the international laws and rules and moral values through special training sessions under the supervision of psychologists, former cricketers
and legal experts.
Furthermore, the PCB should appoint an inspection team which may keep keen eye on all the cricketers at every time and report their activities to the board neutrally. Though this seems to be difficult but there is no other option to eliminate the corruption
from the cricketing ranks of the country.
What has gone is gone. Now, the green cricket authorities should gird up their lines and do their utmost to ensure fool-proof cricket in the country and outside.
