I have a crown XLS-802d amplifier and I was playing some music the today to test out our new subwoofers and I had it at about 3/4 of the way up and all of a sudden I heard a loud buzzing from the amplifier and from the wall socket. I checked the fuse in the back and it was popped out so I pushed it back in and the amplifier immediately buzzed and popped the fuse back out...also the wall socket made a horrible buzzing noise for a second. When the music was playing, the clip lights never came on and I wasn't stressing the system very hard. I have two of the XLS802ds and I noticed that the LED on the bad unit was a darker shade of blue and seemed to dim pretty badly when playing music. I know crown offers a 3 year warranty so will this be covered? Also, on their website, they have a local repair center for in warranty units, if i take it there, will they be able to fix it quickly? Thanks!!

  1. It seams to me that your amp has the output stage blown. It is a complex amp so go with it to the repair center and see what they will say. Also check the speakers too!

I've just seen the amp on a site and it can be the power supply unit that is blown(it is a switching mode power supply)!!!
