Question:

Crown tack pros and cons?

I really liked how the crown raised flash bridle and crown raised standing martingale looked, but how do they hold up? I'm a hunter jumper and I just bought a new horse that needs a flash bridle and martingale. I'll have to take the flash off for shows. I don't want a very expensive bridle, but I want one that will hold up. I also want it to be dark brown to match my saddle. So is Crown a good brand, or what's a better brand?

  1. If you're looking for something a little cheaper, consider  Bobby's tack. Here's a link to a shop that sells them - I'll try to find something better. http://www.eqtack.com/catalog/index.php?...

Anyway, Bobby's is pretty good quality English leather. They call it the "fake Edgewood" It sort of looks like Edgewood, but you can tell it's not quite as nice. But it's much cheaper. Even cheaper if you can find one on ebay.

My recommendation though is that you spend money now on something that will last you a long time and get an Edgewood. They're going pretty cheap on ebay these days.

  2. Crown is cheap and mass produced.  I won't buy it.
