Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts set to raise $60,000 for charities
After the HP Byron Nelson Championship concluded last week, the PGA Tour players are now ready to participate in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
This time, the professional will not only be aiming low scores for themselves, in fact, they will be trying hard to go as low as they can to help the local charities in the region.
According to the tournament officials, each birdie or eagle recorded in the tournament will help in raising funds for four charities – Birdies for the Brave, Shelter in a Storm, Cook Children's Medical Center, and, the First Tee of Fort Worth, Texas.
The idea has been proposed by the Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts with the name of "Charity Foursome".
The officials have told that the players can raise the amount up to $50,000 for the charities through birdies and eagles.
In addition to that, the golf fans can also participate in the fundraising campaign by voting for their favourite charity organization and the officials will add one Dollar each for the votes casted.
The fans can vote through the official facebook page of the Crowne Plaza Invitational and can raise the amount up to additional $10,000 for the charity organizations.
Golf commentators and the PGA Tour players praised the idea of raising money in such a way that each player will have two motives while making shots on the course; winning and raising money.
They believe that the idea will also help in improving the image of the tournament among the players and fans around the world.
Moreover, it will attract more fans to head for the venue to watch the tournament live on the course.
"Each golf pairing this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial will play for one of four charities," says PGA TOUR rising star Rickie Fowler. "Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts will donate $100 for each birdie and $500 for every eagle made to each
pairing's designated charity, up to $50,000".
The Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts’ management has also announced a lucky draw for the participating fans to get a chance of winning the golf weekend getaway.
