Crowning Star to threaten the lineup for the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Handicap at Lingfield
The Class 6 Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Handicap is to be held on Friday, 2nd March at Lingfield over a mile. The race that has attracted a lineup of seven has a £1, 704 purse for the winner today.
Most competent among the lineup is Jericho, Hill Of Dreams, Crowning Star and Stag Hill.
Crowning Star, Royal Applause’s three-year-old gelding out of mare Dossier, is trained by J. S. Moore. He ventured out four times during the 2012 season but could not post a victory in any of the starts. However, he did maintain his rankings. After finishing
third in his seasonal debut, Crowning Star did not go below the second position in the next three races.
On 9th February, he was entered as a ½ favourite in the Enjoy The Punters Package Group Offer Claiming Stakes at Wolverhampton over a mile and ½ furlong.
Crowning Star’s next attempt was in the Fa Cup Betting At Bluesq.Com Claiming Stakes on 18th February at Lingfield over a mile. The three-year-old gelding was yet again sent as a 13/8 favourite but could not get the race under his belt.
He settled second against Clean Bowled who led the track of seven by 1 ¾ lengths. His last start was yet again at the same race course but over a mile and two furlongs with the 8/13 favourite winner of the Bet At Blue Square Claiming Stakes, Clean Bowled
leading by 3 ¼ lengths.
Crowning Star has been set second by Clean Bowled in the last three races straight and by the last race Clean Bowled had even taken away the title of being favourite from Crowning Star.
Today Crowning Star is in for the fifth race of the new season and it is time that he makes the most out of the opportunity presented to him.
The three-year-old Stag Hill is another entry who has the potential of directing the outcome of the race. The chestnut gelding was entered as a favourite in his last two starts. The prior being the final race of the previous season while the next was the
2012 seasonal debut.
Another threatening entry on the lineup is Jericho who has under gone a gelding operation recently and that has booted the chances of the three-year-old brown gelding to get placed today.
It is a highly diversified and challenging lineup so winning through it will for sure be an accomplishment.
