Crtl alt delete for ubuntu live cd?

When windows locks up i press crtl alt del to bring up the task manager to unlock it. What do i press for linux? (i'm testing out a live cd of ubuntu)

  1. The 'Task Manager' on Ubuntu is called Sytem Monitor and can be found on the System -> Administration menu.

    There are a couple of things you can do if your system locks up:

    Ctrl+Alt+Backspace will restart 'X' (In effect restart the gui without the machine needing to reeboot)

    Or you could press Crtl+Alt+F2 and this will take you to a console where you can log in as the ubuntu user, from there you can see what's locking up your PC by typing 'top' (q to exit). The first columnis a called PID. Make a note of the number that's causing you the problems, exit out by pressing q. Then type kill PID, where PID is the process number you made a note of

    If you need to reboot the PC, type 'sudo reboot' or to go back to the GUI, Crtl+Alt+F7 will take you back  


  2. When you are on the desktop, there is a button at the top bar to bring up the task manager
