  1. It upsets me greatly. I believe Gandhi was right when he said “The Heart of a man and the greatness of a country is judged by the way animals are treated by them” and I believe that means ALL animals, not just the ones we invite into our homes as companions.

  2. no i love meat

  3. I find it annoying, it is like animals are placed into different categorises all with difference statuses! Like pets, and food. Pets have the high life, and isn't it funny how pet mice have higher rights to an intelligent cow or pig?

  4. I think it is cruel for all the poor animals that killed every year by combines harvesting veggies........life is cruel no one is cruel free........you veggies included

if animals should have rights so should plants

  5. Farm animals do have rights. They have the right to be housed, fed and cared for to a certain stand. These standards however, are quite low and cruel in some cases. But, in saying that I've seen plenty small time , free range farmers who take excellent care of their animals and who treat them with the dignity they deserve.

Through my work, I've also seen some horrific cases of domestic animals cruelty and abuse. Some cases were utterly hopeless and resulted in the animal being euthanised. These animals supposedly have rights, but to be perfectly honest their rights are rarely enforced and it's notoriously difficult to get a conviction against the abuser.

So as you can see it works both ways.

  6. It makes me sad more.

Most people are unaware that cows and pigs and chickens are smart and have feelings, just like dogs and cats. I was once a meat eater and never knew the nasty scenes behind the meat industry. I mean, pigs can play playstation games better than dogs! Farm animals are intelligent creatures just like dogs and cats. (You can read more here: http://www.vegtaste.com/main/posting.php... )

They're extremely cute as well especially when they're little, just like dogs and cats. I could not bear the thought of eating chickens after seeing the cute little chicks grown to be meat in industrialized farms today, seen from the documentary Baraka: http://www.vegtaste.com/main/posting.php...

But you're right, although it might be too idealistic in this imperfect world.

  7. ~ Totally agree.  The thing is "majority" of people look at cats, dogs, birds, and such as companion animals; pets.  Cows, chickens, ducks, and pigs are just a food source, and are thought of as being here only for us to eat.  It's really sad to see how a living animal is treated so inhumane because it is "food".  I know things will never change in the meat eating world but it would be nice if the way these animals were taken care of while living and then handle when they are killed would change.

  8. Cruelty is a sad affair period.  For animals, it comes in many forms: from outright losing  their habitat to humans (can't have animals standing in the way of progress as they say), to having to cope with human activity (highways, fences, electrical lines pollution etc) to abusive farming practices to separation from family and parents (as in in pet ownership not just farming) to experimentation, to genetic manipulation all the way to (for some unfortunate species) total extermination.

Animals have never had and it seems in the foreseeable future will never have the same rights as human beings. At least as far as human beings are concerned. Actually western affinity to and special treatment of cats, dogs and other pet species is quite a mystery to the rest of the world.  That's why bull fighting, cockfights, dog fighting, horse fighting, even insect and spider fighting are all acceptable forms of entertainment around the world but generally unacceptable in the West especially North America and the EU.

Another difference, farm animals are food and treated as such. Pets are domestic companions and also treated with the same sentimentality accorded human family and friends. You may not like it, but that's how and what it is.

  9. Yes. Every living thing under the sun should have rights.

  10. You are obviously clueless about anything about life and you need to spend about 10 years on a working farm before you blurt out anything concerning animals

  11. Yep, people often seem to find it easy sometimes to put certain animals in one category of care. And yet other animals, who may be just as intelligent, and often very warm and loving towards humans, are simply labelled as "food". It's a structured semantic system; an attempt to stop people thinking reasonably about animal welfare, and whether they should be eating animals.

Until people realize just how closely animal agriculture and welfare, and human welfare and suffering are connected, this practice will go on. While people continue to profit from selling and eating living beings, they will feel they have little incentive to stop. It is this that must be changed if we are to have a hope of striking a balance where humans can live peaceably with nature in the long run.

any kind of animal cruelty pisses me off.... i am a christian, and believe God put animals here to be eaten. i am choosing to be a vegan because of the way they have to go to get on the plate. i mean, we have cows and they live long healthy lives, grazing and reproducing normally in a big pasture and if they get low on grass we have another one we move them to. when the time comes they are slaughtered and feel no pain. if everything were that way, i would eat meat. i do not agree with veal, they are just babies when slaughtered.

  13. Yeah it pisses me off that farm animals are treated like dirt. Also I think if you are cruel t a cat or dog then it is you who should be taken away. The truth is even without killing "farm animals" the people who work in these places would be the worst criminals of all time if the acts they do to pigs and cows ect were done to humans. They wouldbe considered far worse than Manson or Bundy or Knox.

  14. I agree i am a member of the ASPCA and PETA.

  15. Yes it does.  Animal cruelty, to ANY animal makes my blood boil.  I have to try not to think about what is going on out there because it will depress me.

Maybe one day animals will have more rights.
