  1. Yes. You do need one. Get was ASAP since it takes a little while for them to come in.

  2. show ur school id or get a passport if u have plenty of time, both gonna work for ya cutie .

  3. Children 18 and under are only required to provide proof of citizenship( a birth certificate).

  4. Doubt that a school ID is gonna work for anything except a discount at the movies.  Get a Passport.  While the legal requirement to carry one won't happen til at least June 2009, there is nothing to stop the cruise lines from requiring one to board the ship.

The cruise lines have been requiring birth certificates and photo ID for about 20 years, though that only became  Federal law since last April.

  5. Well I'm going on a cruise in 2 weeks...

and as of now you DONT need a passport, but you WILL nexy year (June 2009).. well at least for the carnival cruise line.

You do need your birth certificate. You dont have to ave a passport but it will still get you on the ship.

  6. Passports for SEA travel will not be required until June 1, 2009.  However, some cruise lines like everyone to have them, so it is a good idea to call your cruise line and ask their policy.  Minors under 18 need their birth certificate, but are not required to have photo I.D.  If you do have photo i.D. that is fine too.

  7. NO!  you will not absolutely need one because the new rules requiring a passport for ALL travel out of the US does not go into effect until the summer of 2009.  Right now you need proof of US citizenship in the form of your birth certificate and proof of ID like a driver license or work or school ID. BUT, sine you have plenty of time before your cruise you should go ahead and get one.

You can go on line to the US Passport office web site and print the application for.  Then you will need two passport photos which you can get at a travel agency, your local AAA office or other stores like Wal Mart. You submit your application along with your birth certificate, the photos, and the fee to the US Passport office:  http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor...

  8. tell your mom you need one

  9. Since Mexico does not require a passport from a US Citizen to enter the country at present the answer is no.  The US Department of Homeland Security requires person entering the US by Land or Sea to have a valid government issued photo ID and an official birth certificate for those 19 and older.  Those 18 and younger, like yourself, are required only to have a valid birth certificate although if you have a form of photo ID it is a good idea to bring it.

The cruise lines will follow the US Government regulations however if you want to be certain you can contact the cruise line directly or speak to your travel agent.  They will give you the requirements for the cruise you are going on.  If, for some reason however, you end up having to fly you will require a passport.  If it is possible for you to get a passport, you have plenty of time, I recommend getting one since it will simplify travel now and will be required for all travel as of June 1, 2009 based upon current deadlines.

Effective June 1, 2009 only a passport, passport card, NEXUS card, or enhanced driver's license will be acceptable ID for any form of cross border travel.  A passport is required for all air travel.

  10. its safer to get one and then not need then to need and not have it

otherwise the cruise line not not even let you board their ship

    without one!
