If I am planning a cruise for 4 people, how much cheaper will it be to put all 4 people in 1 room compared to having 2 separate rooms?

  1. IT IS NOT THAT IT IS CHEAPER IT IS THAT THE PRICE IS DIVIDED DIFFERENTLY.  FOR EXAMPLE THE FIRST AND SECOND PERSON PAY FULL PRICE AND THE 3 AND 4 PAY ABOUT 1/2 OF THE FULL PRICE.  THEREFORE THE PRICE IS DIVIDED BY 4.  I WOULD REALLY THINK ABOUT PUTTING 4 PEOPLE IN A CABIN.

ALSO DEPENDING ON WHICH CABIN YOU TAKE AND HOW LONG IS YOUR CRUISE.

  2. Not sure that's not really a group rate but i know you get some sort of savings for having more than 3 people. Call Royal Carribean, or Carnival Cruises so you can get an idea.

  3. All cruise cabins are sold based on double occupancy and then they charge a much lesser rate for the 3rd and 4th person.  Its usually about 50% less for the 3rd and 4th person.  But it can vary by cruise line and cruise.

The cruise lines are not clear on their web sites about how these rates are determined, but you can start the booking process on a cruise that you are interested in, adding the 3rd and 4th person and the web site will give you the price for each person.  Then you can cancel the action or just close your browser window.  Or, call a travel agent or the cruise line and ask them.

  4. Anything after the 2nd passenger is a greatly reduced fare on most cruises. That is however in cabins made for 2 people "comfortably", meaning the extra paople will probably get a couch type situation. There are Quad rooms (with 4 actual beds), too, on a lot of ships. They may not be as economical, but probably slightly  more comfy.

  5. Keep in mind, however, that cabins on a cruise ship are VERY small, especially if you're talking four adults.  If you do put four in a room, you can ease bathroom congestion by some people showering up in the gym [much larger showers, anyway!].

  6. It use to be that all paid the same but now some offer discounts but consider the fact that that is one less bathroom, half the amount of storage, and everything else.  You will all get comfy beds if you book two rooms it will be much easier to get ready for dinner at night with more room and privacy.  Need I say privacy again....  We always book 2 close to each other across the hall or next door it works great.  Enjoy what every you choose.

  7. The cheapest categories won't accommodate four people. Also the extra person charge depends on the cruise line and the itinerary.

Keep in mind that there will be four of you in fairly close quarters. Be sure that you all get along and bathe regularly :-)

OTOH, spreading the cost among four people might provide an opportunity to upgrade the category of room to one you might not otherwise enjoy without breaking the bank. While most rooms are modest, a suite can be huge.
