  1. you will not be allowed to baord the ship at all without at ticket, and they wont let you pay to board if you just turn up at the port. of course everyone has got to pay

  2. this site might have more info on that

    http://allcruiselines.info

  3. I suggest you contact your travel agent as soon as possible.  There are so many variables here that you shouldn't pay much attention to our personal opinions here on YA.  You need a professional.  Have a nice trip!!

  4. Hi,

Of course all pax have to pay to board a ship, how ever old  they are. You all have to pay for port charges and taxes which may be included in the price or will be charge extra when you are on board. If you do not pay then a ticket will not be issued and you will not be able to board the ship.

Also if the booking was made for two pax the cabin may not be large enough for 4 pax with a cot.

This needs to be sorted before anyone travels.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise.

  5. On the newer cruise ships standard cabins will sleep two to four.  There are some suites that will sleep five to fourteen.

In either case, no matter what cabin you are in, you pay full price for the first two people, regardless of age.  The third and/or fourth person in the cabin pays a reduced fair.  If you are in a cabin that sleeps five or more, then the fifth, sixth ... also pay a reduced rate.

Every person will have to pay something.  Either the full price, if they are one of the first two people in the cabin, or the reduced rate for the third (and beyond) passenger.

I'll give you a couple of examples.  In May 2004 five of us were in two cabins on the Carnival Pride.  Four of us paid full price (the first two in each cabin).  The fifth person, who was the third person in one of the cabins, paid a reduced rate.  Both of the cabins were suites.  Each full fair person was $1500.  The third person was $500.  So for the five of us in two suites it cost $6500.

In June 2007 six of us were in a Royal Family Suite on the Freedom of the Seas.  The first two were $4000 each.  The third through sixth persons were $1,000 each.  Thus it cost $12,000 for the six of us (an average of $2,000 each).

You have to understand that both of the above examples are for suites.  Standard cabins cost less.  However, standard cabins will only hold up to four people (on the newer ships).  Thus a family of five will need two standard cabins.

  6. Yes, your parents will have to pay for all 3 children.  Following is the link to Carnival's policy regarding infants:

    http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Infant_...

The minimum age for travel is 4 months old.  You should take along the baby's portable play pen because the "cribs" that Carnival supplies are not great.  We took our 18 month old niece on a cruise in 2006 and the crib Carnival supplied collapsed.

You should make sure that the cabin selected is configured to host 4 people.  It will be tight with the crib.

Make sure that they don't charge tips to the infants account.  They charged us and we only found out later that infants are not asked to pay tips.

Also, take along a small umbrella stroller instead of the big four-wheel drive stroller.  It will make for much easier maneuvering on-board and in port.

Pack you valuables and anything you might need (especially for the baby) before midnight in your carry-on luggage.  It takes a long time to get your luggage.  Take along a power strip and night light as well.

You might want to consider getting a set of the 2-way radios to use while on board.  This keeps groups in communication without missing check ins.

    Have a good time.

  7. You certainly have to pay for the 6 year old. The rate is 2/3 of the  adult fare. I just booked on Carnival for my 5 and 7 year olds.

  8. best advice is to call carnival cruiselines and ask them your specific question.

cruiseclues.com is a great site for information.
