Question:

Cruise Wireless internet?

I am considering bringing my laptop on my cruise over spring break. I am going on a princess cruise. I'm just wondering do you have to pay to use the internet or how is it set up? Because I know the cruise would want to make money off of it, but how do they if you bring your own computer. Thanks very much!

  1. Up till August last year I was working with Princess Cruises you needed to purchase a card for wireless access-cheaper than the normal cafe rates-there were only a couple of hot spots at sea and it sometimes dropped out.I am guessing that access varies depending on the ship's location BUT the cost would  be fleet wide! it is easy to use once you are logged on.

Email Princess and I am sure they would be happy to advise current costs for you.

  2. I have not been on a princess cruise - but I have been on carnival. Carnival did it where they had an internet cafe  and you pay by the minute to connect. you could buy a block of time for a certain amoutn of money - but it was expensive. I assume princess is simillar to that. you can find out ahead of time by looking at their website or calling them directly.

  3. the princess cruise i went on was the sapphire princess (to alaska) and it charged a dollar per minute to use their computers w/internet

  4. One of my clients just back from a Princess cruise gave me the following info:

Nothing was wireless - he was able to use his laptop in his cabin by renting a connecting device @ $10/day and then paying the same rates as the Internet cafe on board.  He didn't have the numbers with him, but remembered that it was $0.65 / minute and that they had discounted plans for 50 minutes, 100 minutes, etc.

I hope this info is helpful.
