Hi....my husband and I are planning a cruise to Alaska in August. We do not have children and really want to stay away from ships that cater to families. Any suggestions? Also any reviews on the Alaska destination?

Thanks so much for all of your replies!

  1. I also have a cruise to Alaska booked for Sept 23 on Holland America 's Noordam. Holland America is known for having an older more sophisticated clientele. It is my first time sailing with them but I have only heard goos things about this line. You can still get great deals also on Alaska for August as well as September. Check out vacationstogo.com for great deals. For Alaska, I do recommend a balcony cabin as most of your time will be watching the beautiful scenery go by...

  2. I suggest Princess, Holland America or Celebrity.  They are all first class cruise lines.  Holland America will like have the fewest kids on board.

  3. Princess, Holland America, and then some of the more exspensive lines, like Cunard, Windstar, Crystal, etc, those don't have alot of familes, and Celebrity I hear does wondeful Alaskan cruises but they have kids on it. There is going to be kids on any cruise line but the more upscale ones would be your best bet towards not having kids.

  4. Hi.. check this blog i found on the net.. i think this will help you

  5. Princess would be your best choice.  We went in May and on NCL and really did not like that cruise line at all.

Must see in Skagway is the Red Onion Saloon.  It is a old brothel, and the girls still dress up in "brothel" clothes.  Really cute.

Also take the Float Plane tour over the glaciers.  It is absolutely amazing.  Everyone was speechless.  We did that in Juneau.

Alaska is beautiful, you'll have a great time.  If you can swing it, get a cabin with a balcony - the scenery from the ship is just wonderful.  We spent hours just sitting on the balcony.

  6. Princess cruise was nice....  Most of the folks on board were older and more mature.  Very small percentage of young families.  Service was a top notch as well.

  7. celebrity cruises are specially for adults. if you find a kid on that  cruise, then consider it a miracle.

  8. If you want to stay away from kids I guess you would want to choose either Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises. They are both more upscale cruises and families usually stick to Caribbean cruises in general. My aunt went on a Royal Caribbean ship in Alaska with her husband and said it was great. My opinion is personally Royal Caribbean ship called Radiance of the Seas.

  9. I always go the icruise.com for all of my cruises that I reserve, it caters to your style and you decide which ship you want, the size of the room, windows or portholes, dates and times, how long you want to go for, no matter what their is always food somewhere on board like the midnight buffet, my friend went to alaska that I set it up for her with her help and she loved it said that she would love to go back, good luck and have a great time
