  1. To be comepletely honest,  Royal Caribbean is the best.  I've cruised on NCL, Carnival, RCCL, Disney and many others.  I actually worked for the first three.

If you just wanna pay the least carnival is for you.

The ships on Royal are the best, and the bigger the better more options and things to do and the ships are nicer.

NCL has freestyle cruising which is nice but you don't get the same service as a more traditional cruise.  They don't really care about you since their tips are taken care of and they will probably not see you  for more than two nights anyway you have different waiters all the time.

Take it from me Royal is the best.  That's the one I would go on if I had a choice of any mainstream cruiseline.  Obviously there are better like silversea,  seabourne, and crystal but those are more upscale, much older crowd, very expensive and the ships are much smaller, (yatchs)

  2. Sounds like you're reacting to the NCL ads that make it look like the "other" cruise lines are strictly regimented.  That's not the case.  On many lines, it is true that you will have assigned seating for dinner and that there are dress codes.  However, these can be avoided by dining at the buffet or one of the other venues or ordering room service [costs only a tip to the person who delivers].

NCL is probably the lowest-quality of the mainline cruises, although they certainly have their fans.

Disney is very high quality but also relatively expensive - they only have two ships, so the principle of supply-and-demand is  very much in effect.

Carnival and Royal Caribbean are two good lines for first-timers, and each has its fans and detractors.

You might want to get a book from your library or bookstore about cruising, in order to get a general idea of what's involved and what the different lines are like.

Personally, I've cruised with Carnival, Celebrity and Holland America and liked them all.

  3. Royal Caribbean was a lot of fun. They treat you like you are a King on their boat. They also keep you active with lots of things to do while at sea.

  4. We have been on 4 cruises. 3 with Carnival and one with Princess. Talking to other guests while on board, you learn things about other cruise lines. Disney is more expensive than some. Celebrety is more strict with dress code in the evening dining room. NCL has no traditional dining where you sit with the same people each night. They are all different, but none are bad. Everyone on board is in a good mood all the time. People that are stuffy don't go on cruises and as far as staff, they screen out all the real cool people. Another good way to learn about cruises and cruise lines is to go to cruisecritic.com and really check out the site. If you are prompted to join, no problem, it's free. Also after you book a cruise, you can find out who else is going on the same cruise. There might even be a cruisecritic.com sail away party!!!

  5. Any cruise boat from Royal Carribean. All the ships are excellent and its the top cruiseline , I highly reccomend Royal Carribean. I have been on it 8 times and everytime was excellent. The waterpark on the ship, ice skating rink, many restaurants, dinner hall, huge rooms, big pools, clubs, teen clubs, surfing (on ship) is just the begining. BEST CRUISE LINE PERIOD

  6. Carnival. I went on a Carnival Cruise to the caribbean and it was so much fun. All my relatives prefer this boat over princess, royal caribbean and NCL. Although, i have never been on those three but my uncle said he did enjoy Princess. it is more expensive though. NCL would be fun but when people come back they have a lot of negative feed back. Disney is centered around kids but you would still have a ton of fun. I would pick Disney from those two. But check out Carnival!!

  7. Im not sure about the ncl, but if you go on Disney, be prepared. It is completely centered on kids and it can get very irritating after a few days. I love Disney, but that was over the top mickey mouse. I have also been on a carnival cruise and it was a great time. Things to do for all ages, well except 14-17 yr. olds. They are kind of stuck in the middle. But thats all I got. Good luck on your vacation.

  8. If you don't want to get sick from the food, then go with Royal Caribbean. They are the only cruise line where you won't get food poisoning. A friend went on Disney Cruises and he got food poisoning and had to spend 3 days in quarantine. They also don't refund your money if that happens. Royal Caribbean is fantastic! Freedom of the Seas is their biggest ship and the biggest cruise ship in the world. It has an ice-skating rink, rock wall, and a wave generator so you could surf on the boat. Highly recommend Royal Caribbean. Vision of the Seas is nice too.

  9. i LOVE royal carribean.  Been on about 5 cruises with them.

you don't have to in the dining hall. they serve the same food in the windjammer.  just eat there.

  10. Hey there hun... from personal experiance, I have cruised with NCL 9 times now and was even married on one of their ships (October 2006 Norwegian Spirit).  They have phased out almost all of the old ships and have a brand new fleet.  The freestyle dineing that they offer is great too (so that you dont have that set time schedule).  I find that their prices are fair, they are wonderful people and will do just about anything to make you happy and cruise again.  No, I dont work for them, but I love to cruise and I would not go with any other company.  I have soooo much info I could share with you on this cruise line, but I dont know what you really want or need to know, so feel free to email me if you want more info.  I think you have made a great choice.  Do you have kids?  NCL offers daycare as well (I do not have kids so I would not know how good it is, but I would hope it is as good as the rest of the cruise line).  If this is the case, Disney may work for you, however if you are looking for a relatively kid free cruise with your friends or sweetie I would stick with NCL.  I have nothing but kind and wonderful words for this cruise line.  Not only have they helped make memories I will never forget, they made sure that my wedding was the everything I ever dreamed of.  Let me know if you need any more help hun... Oh, one more thing, the new law states that you MUST have a passport to sail now so if you have not gotten one yet (or have not re-newed) make sure you have this first.  I only state this because with the new law all thoes with out a passport are trying to get one, so it will take a bit longer than usual to get it in on time (I just dont want you to get stuck with this, no cruise line will refund your money for this mistake).  Also, another helpful hint... it does not matter who you cruise with, but the extra money for the insurance is well worth it.  If you fall and break your leg before the cruise, they will give you a credit for a new cruise time when you can enjoy yourself, or if you get sick on the ship you can see the onboard doctor.  Another thing to remember if you have not cruised before is that the price listed online is not the final price.  There will be port fees attached to that price and they can be anywhere from $200-$800 depending on the length and the ports you travel to.  On my two week cruise through the carribean it was an extra $500 and we stopped in 7 ports (9 if you include the NY port twice).  These helpful hints will help you decide on the price.  Traveling in October-December will give you better prices, but the cruise company will not refund your money for "acts of god" such as hurricanes that happen durring that time of the year, so you may get some bad weather traveling at that time (this is when I always go... I have been through 3 hurricanes and if you like the rocking ship they can be fun because everyone is in their room sick).  Hopefully I have helped and again, just ask, I can answer most of the questions you may have about this cruise line.  Happy sailing!!!
