  1. Using the internet at sea is expensive and is not wireless. They have an internet cafe that you go to. I forget how much it is per minute. But I know for a fact that it is expensive. However if are a crown and anchor member. look for a coupon in your member booklet that the room steward will give to you. It usually has a coupon for the first 10 mins of internet free.

Also I find the web to be very slow when you are at sea or docked somewhere.

  2. Most cruise lines are up to date with the latest technology. They do have wireless and most packages for the trip will come with the connection for free.  If you need more information, then consult the cruise line information center, they will be more than happy to answer your questions.

  3. I have cruised on Royal Caribbean in the Mediterranean and many other places and all of their ships do have internet service and WiFi hot spots.  BUT, its very expensive at about $50 an hour.  They do offer packages that are little less, but still expensive vs what you pay at home.  I always suggest that cruiser wait until the ship gets to a port stop and look for an internet cafe.  You can usually find one and the fees are in the range of $5. to $7 a hour.  Ask a waiter or room steward where the internet may be as they know and go use it when they can get off the ship.

ThIs is from Royal Caribbean's web site:

"Is Internet access available from the ship?

A:   Yes, depending on the ship there are two options for staying connected while onboard.

    Wireless Internet Access (Wi-Fi)

There will be six designated *"Hot Spots" which vary from ship to ship.

To use our WI-FI access, you'll need:

    A laptop

    Windows operating system

    802.11b Wireless networking capability

The cost for Wi-Fi access through your own laptop is:

Base rate is $.55 per minute or choose from one of our prepaid packages:

    $28.00 for 60 minutes

    $38.00 for 90 minutes

    $55.00 for 150 minutes

All prices are subject to change without notice.
