  1. Disney doesn't sail from New Orleans.

This year, your only option for Disney is from Port Canaveral FL,  Disney Magic will be headed to Europe this year however all her Europe sailings are sold out.

From New Orleans your options are Carnival (Fantasy), Royal Caribbean (Grandeur of The Seas), or NCL.  (Norwegian Sun)

I'm a big fan of Royal Caribbean, and if it was me would select Grandeur of The Seas).  Carnival is good option of you are budget conscious.

I'd also recommend speaking with a travel agent that specializes in cruises.  Cruise Planners 888-286-9827 www.mycruiseplanner.net is extremely knowledgeable and can help you out.  They have the same pricing as the online sites and the cruise lines, and they don't charge any service fees.

  2. I don't believe there are any cruises out of Louisiana that are Disney cruises, but you can always book a flight to Florida for that, if that is what they have their heart set on.  Depending upon the ages of the group...if you're twenties, then I'd opt for the Carnival cruise line, otherwise, any other will do just as well.  Try and find a cruise that doesn't have a lot of "at sea" days, since in my opinion, the days on an island you can have a lot more fun exploring or snorkeling too.  Bring your own snorkel gear for that to save money.  I usually find something on this site:  iBtraveling.com so you can compare the prices of cruises, book it yourself so you won't have to pay the fee travel agents get for booking something you can do just like them, by typing in your own information.  My dad just went on a cruise, Costa, and he did a few of their "activities" on board and got a certificate to receive a new passport next year, something everyone will need pretty soon.  So, whatever you pay, you'll get your money's worth, since I bet a lot of cruise lines will have this option too if they want your business again.  You'll have fun no matter where you go or whatever cruise you take.  If you have an option for Norwegian, then you won't get tied down to a dinner time that you Have to be there on time...that might be nice.  Something to think about.  Wish you luck!  Have fun!

  3. I just took one w/ royal caribbean out of NOLA in Jan. 07 on the Grandeur to Grand Cayman, Costa Maya & Cozumel.  It was fantastic.  Between my folks and I we've been on pretty much all the sailings out of NOLA, and RCI is the best experience we've had so far!

I don't know if Disney does anything out of New Orleans.  There are no other cruise ship ports in LA.  Your best bet for Disney is (suprise) Florida.
