  1. Try going on a luxury cruise if you're high class. Carnival and Royal Caribbean are fun and still have a bit of "fancy feeling" in some of the areas, but they're not really considered for really high classed people. If those two are your only choices, try to make it look as expensive as possible. Get a deluxe suite, go to only the fancier restaurants, go to the spa as much as you can, or anything that could sound expensive. I'm kinda like you and want to enjoy the best things in life, so my advice to you is:

    Don't Count Your Money!

  2. I have been on several Carnival Cruises, Fascination is not one of them but is the same ship as one I went on (Imagination).  It really depends on what you are looking for.  Carnival has what they call fun ships and it is more like going to the Caribbean at an all inclusive resort.  Their ships have waterparks, mini golf, all kinds of great stuff for the kids.  Royal Caribbean cruises are fancier and considered higher end, but don't really cater to families as much as Carnival.

  3. If you are 'high class", don't do Carnival. I have never been on Carnival but on the advice of other cruisers, we started our cruise life off with Royal Car. We loved it and think it's a very high quality cruise. We are going to try Norwegian this year. Everyone I know describes Carnival as the low-end, cheap, 21-er (age), party cruise...

  4. Both of these ships are about the same age and both were recently remodeled. Sovereign of the Seas can accommodate 2,852 people and Fascination 2,052. Both sail to the Bahamas. The price for each is also about the same. I think you will have fun no matter which ship you choose. Neither of these ships could be considered "high class" but they are fun. Go to each cruise line's website and spend some time checking out each ship. Maybe something will reach out and grab you. www.royalcaribbean.com and www.carnival.com.

  5. I personally disagree with what some other people said. You're in a family with a teenager and an 11 year old, Royal Caribbean is the perfect cruise line for you. Princess is good for families, but Royal Caribbean is the BEST for families. There's an endless amount of things to do that no other cruise lines have(rockwall, ice skating rink, inline skating, ALL FREE) You get top notch service on Royal Caribbean. Carnival is the budget cruise line- you get what you pay for, I personally don't like the cruise line at all.  Cruiselines like Silversea or Cunard are very expensive, high class, but don't cater to many families. Royal Caribbean is a bit more expensive than other family cruise lines, but the BEST service out of any other family cruise line in my opinion.

Definitely go with the Sovereign of of the Seas if you're looking to have an endless amount of fun, having exceptional service & finding the perfect cruise for you.

Hope this helps & if you have any further questions feel free to send me a message!! (:

  6. Carnival is more of the family ship I would say. More for the older kids to do. With Camp Carnival. Its a 4 day Cruise. I agree. Princess, NLC.. Much better line....

  7. RCCL and Carnival are about the same as far as fun and amenities. I've heard that the Sovereign of the Seas is showing it's age. The Fascination might by your better bet. As far as the higher class lifestyle, you will not be disappointed in Carnival. Go to evening dinner a little early. They play chamber music while you wait for the dining room to open. Quite elegant.

  8. If you're "high class people", then you probably want to look at Crystal, Radisson, Seabourn, etc.  A four-night cruise is usually a "party" cruise, not a "high class" cruise.

If you don't have your cruise already booked and plan to go in two weeks, you're probably out of luck.  Cruises are booked up months in advance, especially in the busy summer season.

I'd suggest you get a book about cruising and do some reading.  It will help you figure out which cruise line is "high class" enough for you.

ETA:  Despite what others have said here, Royal Caribbean is not "high class".  It is in the same league as Carnival, but with poorer service, cabins and, some say, food.  Carnival, Norwegian and RCCL are all at the low end of the mass-market cruise lines.  That doesn't mean they're not a good cruise experience, for the right passengers, but they're not known for service and ambiance, etc.

  9. You say you are high class people so why are you wanting to sail on Royal Caribbean or Carnival?  There are much better options for you if you want to have a nice cruise with the best possible service.  Princess,  Celebrity, Holland America, Cunard cruises.  Check out their company websites listed below and see what they really have to offer, do not just go to travel agency sites or sites that sell cheap cruises.  Once you find what cruise you want then look around to see who has the best deal for that particular cruise.  They have great information about kids programs and what they offer for all ages.  You can call their 1-800 numbers and speak to someone that acutally works for the company and see what they have to say.  I know that Princess and Cunard have a department called Cruise Vacation Planners that work one on one with you to help you plan the ulitmate cruise vacation.  You can call them they can call you and you can work through email, its a great service and worth looking into.

  10. Yes, I agree. Royal Caribbean has the best of both worlds...it has classy ambiance and a professional crew, yet there are many family-related activities and fun stuff to do. Carnival cruises are known more as "the fun ships", which seem to be more like the Southwest Airlines of the cruise industry. They are still fun, but not as high-class.

  11. Cruising is fun, you make it or break it.  If you're looking for high class cruising, those aren't the ships that wealthy people use to cruise.
