  1. You can drink the tap water for free, or you can buy bottled water on the ship.  The tap water is filtered sea water.  It tastes fine and is very safe to drink (it does not have a salt taste).  Cruise ships make their own water from the sea.  I like cold water, so I just fill a cup up with ice and pour in the tap water.

  2. The water on the ship will be perfectly drinkable.  It's actually sea water, but the ships have a desalinization process to remove the salt, and a purification system to remove bacteria, sediment, etc.  The result is the same quality water that you'd purchase bottled (not spring water, but purified drinking water).

As someone mentioned, be careful about drinking the water in any ports you visit.  Soda, juices or alcoholic beverages are the better option.  It's rare that you'd fall ill drinking the water in a modern, developed area, but why take the chance of ruining your vacation.

  3. I did not drink mutch water, but there was a lot of ice in my drinks!

  4. I just came back from a cruise where they let us tour the desalinization plant on board the ship.  They also will let you order bottles/cases of water at the start of the trip which we found useful for our daytime shore excursions.

  5. Well i do not drink the water on ships but my husband does, he has never had a problem like getting sick or anything and I see alot of people drinking it ( thats on Royal Caribbean )They do have drinking water tanks which i believe is your shower water too??????

  6. They say the water is potable but I don't drink it. They do put large bottles of water in your room for purchase which usually costs about $5-$6 per bottle. We usually pack bottles of water and carry on and nothing is ever said.

    Enjoy.

  7. I drink the water out of the tap. It is very drinkable. It is purer than most cities in the US. It is purified ocean water. They do have lots of bottled water but you must pay and it isn't cheap

  8. I just returned from a cruise and the water on the ship was drinkable.

However if you plan trips into the different locations when the ship stops in port (we were in Mexico and Honduras) you should not drink the water there (or have a soda etc. with ice in it). Take or purchase bottled water for the day trips.
