  1. I'm a tourism and hospitality student, yes that's my major.

1.) Depending on the cruise line, food can sometimes be expensive if they don't include that in your stay aboard the ship.  Sometimes cruises include gratuities and beverages for its guests.

I wouldn't worry about that, I would worry about the ports that the ship is visiting and how much you plan on spending at these ports for excursions.  Once you get aboard the ship they will explain these excursions to the guests or you can go visit the guest center aboard the ship you are traveling on.

2.) Yes, you will feel some movement aboard the ship but not as much as if you were aboard a smaller ship.  If you are staying in a guestroom that is on a top level or very low level--you will feel more movement than somewhere in the middle.  If you are worried about getting sea-sick, they should provide dramamine bracelets for their guests.

3.) Sadly I have not ever taken a cruise.  I have read enough to know what most are like though.  I'm sure it will be really exciting for you!

  2. i assume ur talking about royal carribean...i went on radiance of the seas and i love it!

    1. food comes with your ticket...you can get food 24 hours/day!! its awesome...drinks on the otherhand are pretty pricey...if you have kids you have to buy this cup that gets them unlimited drinks...it costs like $3 per day, and you pay for all the days at the beginning of your trip

    2. I did feel movement because it was very windy outside, but it could have been much worse!!

    3.  I loved everything about it, except we got some bad weather!

have a great time..and make sure to take lots of pictures!

  3. I was on the Freedom of the Seas at the end of June 2007.

    1)  The food is included in the cruise fare.  So are most of the drinks (tap water, milk, juice, punch, tea, regular coffee).  You can get free soft serve ice cream near the pool.  You can get free pizza at Sorrento's (on the Royal Promenade).  Entertainment is free.  Most activities (swimming, rock climbing, ice skating, Flowrider, H2O Zone, miniature golf, basketball, ping-pong ...) are free.  All the children's clubs (Adventure Ocean) are free.

Not included are alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, bottled water, special coffee (such as you would get at Seattle's Best).  Ben & Jerry's ice cream (on the Royal Promenade) cost extra.  The specialty restaurants, Chops, Portofino & Johnny Rockets cost extra (if you want to eat there).  Tip are extra ($10 per person per day, or $70 per person for a one week trip).  Spa treatments, shore excursions & things you buy at the store are extra.  Gambling in the casino or Bingo is extra.  Internet access is extra.  Special classes usually cost extra.  Photographs you buy from the ship cost extra.

Basically, other than your cruise fare, the only extra cost are the tips.  All the other extra cost items are optional.

    2)  No, in fact we did not know we left Miami until we looked outside and noticed the land was moving.  Here is a photo of the sea on our last full day, a day at sea while returning to Miami from Cozumel ...

    3)  Yes we did.  We had a great time.  The kids really enjoyed the mini water park (H2O Zone).  Here is a link to the review I wrote ...

  4. Ok, you dont really feel the ship moving. It feels like you are in a huge building, then you look outside a window and see the ocean flashing by. You get used to moving with the ship, so that when you get off you kind of walk like you are drunk or something, but it wears off pretty quickly.
