Where does the solid waste and waste water on a cruise ship go?

  2. If the tanks get over loaded at sea, then the tanks get dropped into the ocean.  Ships have to adhere to very strict rules and they are not allowed to dump too close to the shoreline.  Other than the prior, they eliminate the waste when they dock.

  4. All waste is processed.  Everything that can be recycled is seperated.  Waste water is treated.  Garbage is not thrown out at sea.  There are very strict regulations and very stiff fines for violating them.

    Waste water is treated and  discharged at sea.

    Paper is incinerated and the resulting ash is off-loaded in an approved port.

    Food is either incinerated or dumped at sea for the fishes.

    Aluminum cans and glass are crushed and off-loaded in approved ports.

    Cardboard is either incinerated and the ash is off-loaded in an approved port, or  crushed and off-loaded in an approved port.

    All other trash is off-loaded in an approved port
