Cruise ship website help?!!?

I have never been on a cruise before, my BF and I are looking into taking one that departs out of Cape Canaveral, FL what is the BEST website to compare cruise pricing??

www.cruisecompete.com, www.onlinevacationcenter.com, www.bookit.com, www.vacationstogo.com. Its good to compare different sites, they sometimes charge different prices and some have better incentives such as free airfare. The mariner of the seas western caribbean itinerary is very good.

I would say go to the official sites of the cruise lines themselves. I'm bias as I cruise with Royal Caribbean. They are very good to cruise with. We are going on our 3rd cruise with  them & they have treated us very well.

Friends of ours just came from a Carnival cruise. They enjoyed it. My wife has good luck buying direct from the RCC web site.

The search engine lets you search by departure port, cruise line or even specific ship.

Noteable about prices you see on the web...they typically don't include the port fees and taxes.  This can add $75-100 per person to the amount you see posted on the web.

We just came back from a Mediterranean cruise.  But while we were doing some homework, we came across www.cruisecritic.com.  This site has professional and recent traveler reviews on each Cruise Line and each Cruise Ship.

The reviews were generally accruate in information, tips, good suggestions and bad things to be aware of/plan for.  I found all the information useful including all the "bad" ratings as it helped me prepare.

The best way to compare prices is to go to the cruise line web sites and look at cruises from the port that you want at various times of the year to see when the best price is available.  The price of a cruise with the same itinerary (i.e., ports stops) can vary by hundreds depending upon when you choose to go.  So when a web site, other than the cruise line site, tells you that its a "discount" you really do not know if it is unless you have looked at all of your options for dates and cruise lines.  The cruise line web sites will have a link showing their specials.

There are three cruise lines that depart from Cape Canaveral; Disney, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean.  (NCL also offers limited service for a portion of the year)  Here's port information:  http://www.portcanaveral.org/cruising/sh...  

You will have your choice of 3, 4, and 7 day cruises on one of six different ships in these cruise lines.  So just go to each cruise line and search for whatever length cruise you want (the names of the ships are on the web sites) and see what time of year the price is the lowest.  There are links to each cruise line on the port web site.
