  1. If your on a cruise, it doesn't much matter.  I enjoyed my boat time much more than my shore time.  My favorite cruise was to Bermuda from NYC.  I live in NYC, so I took a 10 minute cab ride to the hudson river.  They took my luggage at the pier.  A total of 20 minutes after leaving my home, I had a drink in my hand and was listening to a band on the boat.   Much much better than flying someplace to take a cruise.   If this is an option for you, I recommend doing it

  2. Depends on what month you are looking to cruise.  Bahamas are colder, less tropical.  More like the temperature in Florida at that time.  Especially if you are looking at a longer Bahamas&Bermuda cruise--Bermuda is much more off the coast of the Carolinas than tropical and warm.

If you were taking a cruise in Nov-March, I would not chose Bahamas if you are wanting snorkeling and kayaking.  The water will be a bit too cool.  But if it was June or July, they would be equally wonderful.

There are more cruises to the Caribbean than to the Bahamas, so the competition makes the prices lower.  However there are a lot more 3-4 day cruises to the Bahamas if you are looking for a shorter cruise.  And of course a 3 day cruise will be cheaper.

I think the biggest thing for adventure activities is going to be cruiseline.  Certain ones like Holland and Norweigan, cater to such an older clientele that its not going to have many adventure, high energy excursions.

  3. not much difference really, they're all of 100 miles apart, same environment. Unless there's some island you personally have the hots for like Jamaica.

  4. The deep Caribbean is the best.  Best for snokeling is around Grand Cayman or Cozumel.  The water is clearer and warmer and more variety of fish to see.

Bahamas are just okay.  The water is not all that great and too many natives selling their crafts.

  5. Well lucky for you, the bahamas is in the Caribbean so you get both in one trip!  This past summer I went to the Eastern Caribbean on Carnival's Valor. It stopped in the Bahamas on the first day. You can snorkel, sail, tons of stuff to do!
