I'm planning a trip to the mexican rivera next year and I have twins that will be between 5& 6 years old. What cruise line (besides Disney cruise) is more towards family.

  1. If you aren't dead set on a cruise, look into "Beaches all inclusive family resort" They are focused on family vacations and a branch of the "Sandals" resort. They supposed to be amazing. They are also a major sponsor of sesame street, and dedicated to children's learning.

  2. Royal Caribbean is probably the best. I think it is a better line for families than Carnival. Carnival is a ton of fun, but can be a little crazy.

Also, Carnival does not offer as good of food, activities, service, cleanliness, etc. It usually runs less than Royal Caribbean, but the price difference is well worth it to go wth Royal Caribbean.

Disney would be a ton of fun as well, but can be pretty costly. If you are able to spend a little more, Princess would also be a good option, but I think Royal Caribbean is going to be the most fun for the children.

  3. From the RC Adventure Ocean Program:

    Aquanauts (ages 3 - 5) and Explorers (ages 6 - 8)

Our Aquanauts program is specially designed to blend educational activities with just plain fun. Every cruise is different. But one thing never changes, your child will get to learn about local customs, do cool science experiments, and make great new friends. To participate, children must be fully potty-trained and 3 years of age as of the first day of the cruise. No pull-ups or diapers please. You can feel confident leaving your children with us because every member of our Adventure Ocean® staff holds a college degree in education, recreation or related field and has experience working with children ages 3 - 17.

    At Sea: 9 a.m. to noon, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In Port: Thirty minutes prior to the first shore excursion to 5 p.m. or return of last shore excursion, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Some of the Activities your Aquanaut Might Enjoy:

    Adventure Science

Conducted by our specially trained Adventure Scientists, this program combines fun and hands-on science experiments. Featured programs include: Wacky Water Workshop, Magnetic Mayhem, H2O Thunder Races, Gummy Candies and Bubbling Potions.

    Adventure Art by Crayola®

These activities acquaint kids with diverse cultures through art. Children are introduced to mask making, fish kites and pottery.

    Sail Into Storytime

These theme-related storytime sessions bring each story to life with activities, discussions on each story and hands-on activities for the children to participate in following each reading.

    Other Games and Theme Activities

Nutty Nicknames, Un-Birthday Party, Camp Aquanauts, Ice-Cream Party, Super Hero Afternoon, Face Painting, Pirate Night, Talent Show, Under The Sea Night and Pajama Rama Movie Night.

  4. Carnival has a great childrens program called camp Carnival. To read more about it go to this link:

Then click camp carnival for a discription of the activites!

  5. Carnival and Princess.  Royal Caribbean is also fun.  I would use Carnival as a last resort though.

  6. Carnival and Royal Carribean would be my next 2 ideas if you do not cruise with Disney. Royal Carrbean will cost more and not have as good of a kids camp, but they also have more onboard activities that Carnival does not offer (ie Rock Climbing, tennis, ice skating, on board surfing, mini golf, etc.). The Carnival kids camp offers activities that are supervised and puts your kids around other kids their own age, and also gives you some adult time to enjoy as well. Check out cruisecritic.com for ship reviews as well as answers to this and most other questions you will have about cruising.

  7. I'd highly recommend Royal Caribbean.  Great children's program on board and the ships, service, accommodations and food on Royal Caribbean is a step above Carnival or NCL.  Definitely would stay away from Carnival during Spring Break.
