Cruises ball evening?

hiya i have been informed that when i go on my cruise there is a big ball evening, where you have to wear a mask. can you tell me how much they cost on board if you have been before

which cruise liner is it? u can see if they have a web site or just give them a call and ask them, or if u booked it with a travel agent ask them

Hi , I too have never heard of having to wear a mask, there are formal nights where you dress up in evening dress, but not masks!

formal night is

cocktail dress for women/tux or suit for men.

there is only two of those in a typical 7 day cruise.

I have been on about 20 cruises on 4 different cruise lines and they all had a formal night, but never a requirement to wear a mask for a ball.  Now years ago some of the lines did have a masked ball, but they do not do that anymore; at least on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess or Norwegian.  And I have not heard of that being the case on any other lines these days.

In past years the cruise lines did a number of things that they no longer do these days.  Some line, for example, do not have a standard midnight buffet every night.  In the past that was a staple.  The lines used to advise you ahead of time of theme nights, like western, or Caribbean nights.  Now the only night they advise you of is the formal nights; and those, by the way, are requested but not required. they a musk ballet also a captain's diner too and you have to have tux if you want it is cheaper to buy it ashore than on-board !!
