  1. Depends on the cruise. They are not all created equal. Do your homework and research, talk to a travel agent, and you'll have a GREAT time on a cruise. Just take any ol' el cheapo cruise, however, and it can really suck. On the whole, most people really enjoy them. That is why they stay in business.

  2. I went on a cruise to Alaska a few years ago, on Princess cruise line and it was awesome! Alaska cruises have probably the most gentle water there is, so it was really pleasant and smooth most of the time (which is really good for me, 'cuz I'm prone to seasickness).

Princess cruises are really good at customer service, and the food in the dining room is superb! To get food like that on land, you would have to eat at a five-star, $50 a plate restaurant. There is also tons to see and do at the ports along Alaska's inside passage, and tons to do on the cruise ship as well. Part of the fun of going on a cruise is taking advantage of all the free activities on the ship. On my cruise, I took a Yoga class, sat in the hot tub, went to some evening shows, played games w/ my family in the library, and that's just a small piece of what is actually available. There was a basketball court, swimming pools, a spa (not for free, though), educational seminars about each of the ports, and of course you can stand outside and take in the beautiful views (and see marine animals if you're lucky).

  3. We're leaving for our second cruise Sunday.  We went on our first one for the honeymoon and were hooked.  It's a great time, great shows, great service, great food, great everything.

Advice:  take a short one for your first time, because if you don't like it, you're stuck.  Save the longer one for the comeback voyage.

  4. ive been fortunate to be on most of the largest cruise lines in the world and they are just fab, ive been on ships that hold 300 passengers as well, they are more intimate.  money well spent on both large and small ships.  can i also mention that you get what you pay for

  5. Cruises are Great. Like going on a adventure around the world.......

But it is most advisable to learn how to swim 1st!!

    Have a Fun time!!

  6. Cruises are great. The shorter cruises on the "fun ships " may end up being a weekend of drinking and not much else.

Check out all the lines. The longer the cruise the calmer that passengers are and the better the food is.

There is something for everything. It is a lot of fun.

  7. I went on a cruise when it was hot out last week and it was really a great experience for me when it is hot you get a little wind and its cool because i like boats they do not go very fast and i do not like fast moving obstacles. It really was a great time so i would say it was a great experience.

  8. Cruises are good.  I enjoyed the one I went on.

  9. They are not just good they are Fantastic. Try P&O their ships are like five star floating hotels. Once you have done one cruise you will be itching to do it again.

  10. We went on the Carnival Glory last May (2006) and we had the time of our lives.   We are already planning our next cruise for December!

I have never received better service or had more fun on any vacation I have ever been on.

  11. cruises are the best vacation in my opinion

all the food you can eat

    your room

    tropical enviornment

    lots of people

the very best vacation in the entire world!

  12. Try a Windjammer Barefoot Cruise!  Those are a blast. Meet lots of great people and they go to islands that some of the bigger ships can't go to because their boats are too big.

  13. Cruising is great!!! I have been on cruises to the Bahamas on both Carnival and Royal Carribean and had a blast each time. If you get motion sickeness easily, go prepared with whatever medications you take for this.  But overall, go prepared to have all kinds of fun and see all kinds of sights.   Keep in mind with any vacation, it is what you make it to be.

  14. I have had two great cruise experiences with Carnival.  The food was great.  The activities were well planned and fun.  The staff was awesome, especially the servers in the dining rooms.  And to top it off, it cost less than a trip to Disney World.  In fact, I have another one booked for Sept of this year.

  15. FANTASTIC! We had a Med cruise 3 years ago for our honeymoon. We had a fab suite, fab service, fab food (as much as you can eat), fab onboard staff and met some fab people. The captain, still remember his name - Philip Rendell had great sense of humour - every port sailed from he played the loudest music over the tannoy - the best one was Land of Hope & Glory! Go for it - book it now! Enjoy! I can usually find something to complain about on holiday but I couldn't find ANYTHING to moan about!

  16. Bad............many passengers were poorly behaved;brash and lacked good manners.

  17. no upmarket butlins.once your on there your stuck if its not your cup o tea

  18. Been on 16 cruises now.   Started with the medium big ships, enjoyed them.  Tried very large ones and did not like them.    Can recommend P+O (if you are British) with best service and very English feel.

Big thumbs down to NCL, worst cruise, service, everything.  They agree £1000 cash back so this shows you had bad it was!

We are now fully converted to small "expedition" ships going to places like Alaska, Antarctica, South Georgia, Falklands, Greenland, Galapagos, Spitzbergan etc.   You don't get the entertainment etc. but you get the best show in the world - nature in the raw!  Smallest ship was 300ton converted trawler up in Spitzbergan with only 15 guests, no amenities at all - but we saw a polar bear eating a seal and a glacier calving right by us while out in a Zodiac!

We have been up close with giant icebergs, gone through pack ice, glaciers 200km long, whale pods (with calves), Polar Bears, walruses, wandering albatrosses, all types of penguins (including the Kings) and of course the incredible range in the Galapagos!

They cost a lot more but you get to see the most incredible places in the world!

  19. I just back last week from a cruisetour (11days) to Alaska. Not enough words to say just how great it was. If you like meeting new people, trying new foods, most of all Nature at it finest, plus with waited on, visiting new places, getting a great deal for your money then YES if you choose a cruise that fits your taste on what you will expect then a cruise is the way to go.

  20. It depends on the person really. I went on a cruise back in 2005... RC, Majesty of the Seas, and there were way too many kids on the boat... if you have kids then it's great (although if they are really young, look into the Disney Cruises) otherwise find one that caters more towards adults, trust me... it's annoying to be sitting by the pool and hearing a bunch of kids screaming when your trying to relax... and MOST parents let their kids run around un-supervised so that's even worse.

One thing you always hear about is people getting sick... well I'll tell you this... if you ALWAYS remember to wash your hands VERY often & right before eating (meaning AFTER you've gone through the food bar touching all the serving spoons etc.) and DON'T eat food that appears to have been sitting out for a while (anything that should be kept very cold, like things with mayo, or anything that should be kept hot and isn't) then you should be fine... I followed all of that and did NOT get sick.  Also, if you can splurge a little on the room... although your not in there very much, you don't want something on the bottom of the ship with no window or a little tiny port hole... splurge for one with a good sized window... it's worth it!  Most of all have fun... it's a great experience!

  21. First off, most people who go on a cruise have a great time, and most cruise again. That being said you have to consider several factors when you are thinking about a cruise, like do you want to be at one place for several days or do you want to visit several different places, are you going to drink a lot of alchool, do you get motion sickness, and on and on. The biggest positives of a cruise are that you get to see more than one place( anywhere from 2 to 5 or more ports depending on the length). Food is usually good on most ships and is included in the price of your cruise ( and there is plenty of it). If you get motion sickness do not go on a cruise you will be miserable. Alchool on almost all cruises is not included and is very expensive also for the most part you cannot bring your own. When it comes down to it all cruises are not the same, so you have to do your research. I have been on just about every major cruise line more than once and have gone to most destnations, if you have some specific places you want to go just ask. Good luck

  22. I have been on 9 cruises. I love to cruise I think it is the best way to travel. It is like a floating city there is so much to do and these Ships now have everything you can imagine on board. You only have to unpack once and most of the Islands that you view from the water

    are spectacular.

  23. I was just on a cruise last month and had a great time! I went on Royal Carribean -Freedom of the Seas to the Western Carribean and it was awesome! You get to see so much and the ship was awesome. There was sooo much to do and it was very clean and the food was very good. Everyone on the ship is super friendly and helpful also. Its also one of the biggest ships in the world so you didnt really feel like you were even on the ocean, which is good if you get sea sick at all. Anyways have fun, cruising is a great way to see lots of stuff. You may want to check out which cruise line is good for what your looking for, example.. i think carnival is younger people more of a party boat, royal carribean is more family oriented... etc. have fun
