Hi,

we booked a cruise on Dawn from NY in February. Has anyone had an experience cruising in winter? Is it really shaky?

Thanks,

Yana

  1. Ms;

    once you get under way everything will fine. Weather and seas. Relax and enjoy your cruise. Think about it if it was risky they would not still be sending cruise ships out. Enjoy.

  2. I've cruised in February and it was perfect.  The ships are large and do not "shake," nor do they pitch.  It'll be great.

  3. I've cruised on the Norwegian Dawn out of NYC in October.

    It shouldn't be too bad in February. The only draw back is you loose 1-2 days going and coming home that can be spent outside on the pool decks. In October it was low 50's and windy.

    Not too much fun after 20 minutes. Also the weather can effect the waves. If it gets rough they will pass out sea sickness pills free of charge.

    I have been on 5 cruises and unfortunately the October sailing out of NYC was the roughest one I was on. Over 30 foot swells and the ship did rock a lot. If it was my first cruise I would have thought they were all like that and not gone again.

    I love cruising, it's the best way to go on vacation. I wouldn't worry about the rocking, there is nothing you can do if it does happen. Just take the pills and you'll be fine. I've never needed them on any other cruise. If you do hit rough waters hang out in the middle of the ship. It will help.

    If your really concerned about it move your vacation out to the summer months. The price difference may also be a factor.

    Have a great cruise!
