Cruising out of NYC in May-Carnival Miracle...?

I am cruising out of a New York port down to the islands in May, and I have cruised before but left from Miami, and some people are telling me a bunch of different things about the waters being choppier up in the here (I'm from NJ) has anyone cruised from up here and needed "barf bags" :)

Personally no but then I have never been seasick myself but I cruised from New York to Bermuda about 6 years ago and the first night at sea can be pretty rough because you are not down the Caribbean you are on the Ocean.   If you are prone to seasickness I would definitely go prepared because on my ship many were sick.
