I am thinking of taking a cruise through the Panama Canal. I think I will have to go it alone since I don't have a travel companion. Will this be a problem?

  1. NO!!, this will not be a problem as long as you have the money to pay for a cruise by yourself.  Since all cabins are sold based on double occupancy, if you want to go alone you will have to pay the "single supplement" which basically means that you pay a double fare (for 2 people).

I have been on many cruises and frequently meet people who are traveling alone.  Once you are on the ship you mix with everyone and have plenty of people to socialize with and enjoy your cruise.

  2. The major problem for you will be the redicules charges for single occupancy. If you can afford to pay for two its fine. As far as I now NCL has the best single occupanc system with it guaranteed rate or simular. Johan.

  3. My wife and I cruised through the Panama Canal and one of our table mates was a female who was on her own - and going all the way around South America -

It is easy and simple to cruise by yourself - many people do it  - and you don't need a 'singles' cruise.  If you are a traveler most everyone accepts that and welcomes you.

Watch the PBS or Discovery show on the Panama Canal before going - you will enjoy the length of the trip through the canal better.
