Question:

Cruising to Nassau!?

I am cruising to the Bahamas, but we will only be there for one night. We want to hang out at the Atlantis, but we do not want to go on the water slides or anything like that. Are the restaurants, clubs, casino all open to the public? Is it hard to get into the clubs? What should we wear to the clubs? We want to do really fun excursions. Is swimming with the dolphins really worth almost $200.00? We just really want to have a great time, even if it's just one night!

  1. The Atlantis is open to the public besides the waterslides.  I have no idea about the clubs however.  Dolphins are kinda cool, but it really wasn't my cup of tea, I prefer swimming with the manatees in Florida.  If you really like dolphins then yes it is worth the money, they have tricks that you can do with the dolphins.  They pull you and shoot you into the air...stuff like that.  I've been on the cruise to the bahamas twice via the Nassau location.  Once I took the excursions and the other time, stayed on the island.  I prefered the excursion to the private island, its a big party and always something to do like kayak, swim with the sting rays... ect.

  2. If you are cruising to Nassau, then where will your boat be tied up? At Paradise Island or down town Nassau? Atlantis is on Paradise Island and to get there from any where else will require taking a taxi. You perhaps should register for a one day pass to use the  facilities. The restaurants  are available to all, but there might be a charge to enter the Night Clubs.

  3. I would like to know about the best shore excursions.  I will be cruising out of Miami to Nassau on Friday. Carnival Fascination.

  4. The Casino is open to the public.

  5. we went snorkeling on a private island it was great.  they serve you lunch and do a little treasure hunt.

  6. I know that the casinos are open to the public and I don't know about the clubs but you can Google it

  7. You can check out atlantis without spending a fortune.  The Casino is open to the public.. and you can see some of the Aquarium from the Great Hall of Water Cafe.  I'd pass on restaurants, unless it's casual.. the upscale ones are pretty ordinarty for the money.  Nobus and Mesa Grill may be worth the effort, but they are expensive and need reservations. (no young kids allowed - yippee).

Clubs aura is expenisive ($40 for women - $100 for men - nonguests of course).  And drinks run about $15 and up for a rum/coke.

If you want to sit at a table.. you must get bottle service which starts around $350 and up.

As for swimming with the dolphins.. check out the original on Blue lagoon.. far better (and cheaper) than Atlantis (www.dolphinencounters.com)

You're best bet is to find something fun to do.. and keep you money in your pockets.  Atlantis is a rip off.

there's plenty of clubs in town and bahamian things to do..  No need to spend your' money on Rodeo Drive.

  8. I have heard that the British Colonial Hotel is only $15/pp a day and you have full access to lots of things.  It is near the docks and a better bang for your buck. No idea about the dolphins.  We did the yellowbird party boat and had a great time.  Check out www.cruisecritic.com  There is a huge forum to look at there!!  Lots of questions answered by nice people!

  9. yep everything is open except for the waterpark although don't eat there. we went to dinner one night and it was like $800 for four of us, and i didn't like the food. also we went to a buffet style breakfast = 50 dollars a person and my school cafeteria is better haha.

they have good shopping there too. and Blue Lagoon is WAY better, 2 of my cousins went to the one at the Atlantis since they were leaving earlier and they barely got to do anything, and the rest like 35 of us went to Blue Lagoon and it was really fun, and they video tape it too =]
