Cruntchfield and bestbuy speaker/amp question?

I have a 99 dodge ram pickup 1500 regular cab. I want to get new speakers. best buy says 6x9 will fit, cruntchfield says they wont. I want to get four of them and an amp. they both say 5 1/4 will fit. If I get 4 type R, what 4 channle amp will power them good? and also are the type s or type r better? I heard the type s at bestbuy and they sound good but the type r are more expensive so that might mean they are better?

and will someone clear up if they can take 6x9 anywhere? like in the front doors and in the back take 5 1/4?. here are the specs for the type r

Woofer : 5-1/4" cone type

Tweeter : 1" DIA Ring dome type

Max Peak Power : 270W

Max RMS Power : 90W

Impedance : 3.6 ohm

Sensitivity : 86 dB/W/m

Frequency Response : 70Hz - 27kHz

Mounting Depth : 2-3/16"

Cutout Diameter : 4-5/8"

and the type s is the same but the rms is 55. does that mean type r is better?

I know I need a 4 channle amp to run them, i have a couple hundred dollars so tell me whats good

  1. They are 5 1/4, The type R's are a better speaker, but if you only have a couple hundred to spend on the amp, then you might want the type s because they require less power.

This amp would be perfect for the type S.

  2. I'm running Alpine Type-R speakers ( two 6x9s and 2 6.5" w/ tweeters) off of an Alpine MRP-F450 4-channel amp and it powers them fine.  I bought the amp new for $170 and the speakers off ebay for cheaper than any store around.  The Type-R are better then the Type-S, but both types are great

  3. trust crutchfield. but double check other sources. also check stero shops in ur town.
