Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder sticking with his squad for next seasons campaign - Super Rugby News
Coach Todd Blackadder of the Crusaders, who lost the final of Super Rugby Championship against the Queensland Reds on Saturday, July 9, is determined to stay with his team for the next stall of the championship. Todd Blackadder told the reporters on July
11 that despite the disappointing end of season he is determined to lead the side again in the next season.
The Crusaders were defeated by the Reds in the summit match of Super Rugby by 13-18, at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
The Crusaders paved their way into the final of Super Rugby championship 2011, despite heavy odds and large injuries to their side. They produced a number of outstanding performances in the tournament but were thumped by the Reds twice in the season. First
the Crusaders lost their round match to the Reds on May 29, on the same venue and then the grand final last weekend.
Todd Blackadder, who has represented the Crusaders in 71 Super Rugby outgoings, started off his coaching career with the derby in 2008. He was preferred over the current Wallabies coach, Robbie Deans, and has been doing well with the team. Since his recruitment
with the Crusaders, he has helped the side into the semi-finals every year.
Talking to reporters today on July 11, Blackadder said that his job is not over yet with the Crusaders. He added that, “I am still a young coach, just in my third year of Super Rugby. I am learning all the time. I know it is like anything you have to do
your time, you have to develop and learn. I am really happy to be coaching the Crusaders.”
He further said that, “There's a job that hasn't been done yet and I want to be part of it. I'm committed to the Crusaders. It was a bit of a war of attrition and about who could carry on. I could see a lot of tired legs out there and just felt we needed
to make changes.”
Todd Blackadder’s contract will come to an end after the conclusion of Super Rugby season 2012.
