Crusaders defeat Highlanders by huge margin of 44-13
The Crusaders have outclassed the domestic top table Highlanders in the ongoing Super Rugby clash in Dunedin.
They beat the Highlanders by huge margin of 44-13 in the fifth round of Super Rugby. The Highlanders have been beaten twice now in the current clash. The victory has boosted the nomads Crusaders who had a shaky start in the championship.
Both the New Zealander franchises were predicted equally favourite before the match. But the ruthless Crusaders played really well to defeat the Highlanders. They have claimed their third victory in the Super Rugby season 15. The Crusaders were leading the
match since the beginning and have not provided the opponents any chance to take control of the game.
The winners were leading the clash with 13-6 at the interval and added many more in the second half. The second half proved really fatal for the Highlanders and they could not stop the flood of scores by Crusaders. Their captain Kieran Read started off in
the second part of the game with splendid try. After that, they were simply unstoppable and scored three quick tries in just five minutes.
On the other hand, the Highlanders kept on playing poor game and wasted many chances that could easily have been converted into goals. Straight passes were missed; mishandling was all over there for them that resulted in easy victory for the Crusaders. The
winner’s players Freuan, Captain Read and Crockett scored one try each and Dagg added two. Carter has scored on 3 conversions and two penalties for his team and Berquist grabbed two points on penalty.
Earlier on, the Highlanders captain Jamie Joseph and coach Jamie Joseph had called the clash as the biggest challenge for their side before the match.
The coach Joseph said that his team is a strong side and will win on the day. He said, “We're not the sort of team that can get too carried away; we take each game as it comes. We're pretty happy with how we are going so far, there'll be a different challenge
with what's to come in the weekend coming off South Africa. The bye which we have next week has come at the right time.”
