Crusaders name squad for Super Rugby quarter-final clash against Sharks - Super Rugby News
The Crusaders have announced their 22 member squad for the upcoming quarter-final of the current Super Rugby championship to be played against the Sharks, on June 25.
The Crusaders have made three changes to the squad from their previous match against the Hurricanes. They have called back Sonny Bill Williams, Kahn Fotuali'i and Sean Maitland into their side. The trio was suffering from various injuries and were side lined
from Crusaders team until now.
The Crusaders should get a boost with the return of their three experienced players. Sonny Bill Williams had a hip injury and could not participate in the last round match Super Rugby for his team but Bill Williams will take his position back from Ryan Crotty,
who played the Hurricanes game in his non-attendance. Meanwhile, Sean Maitland has also made a come back into the side after the absence of six weeks.
The Crusaders coach, Todd Blackadder, welcomed the healed players into his side and hoped that the unit will be strengthened with their return. Talking to the media, Blackadder said, “It's great to be able to welcome back Sonny, Sean and Kahn. They've all
been working extremely hard on their rehab to be fit for this match and they will get their reward on Saturday night.”
The coach further said that, "It's an exciting prospect. It's great to be going back to Nelson where we've enjoyed great hospitality this season and the challenge in front of us is clear-cut. We have to win to progress in this competition."
The Crusaders are still missing their skipper, Richie McCaw, along with two other players, Adam Whitelock and Israel Dagg, from their crucial contest. They will go against the Sharks with the following players on June 25, in Nelson.
Tom Marshall, Sean Maitland, Robbie Fruean, Sonny Bill Williams, Zac Guildford, Dan Carter, Andy Ellis, Kieran Read (captain) Matt Todd, George Whitelock, Sam Whitelock, Brad Thorn, Owen Franks, Corey Flynn and Wyatt Crockett.
Replacement: Quentin MacDonald, Ben Franks, Luke Romano, Jonathan Poff, Kahn Fotuali'i, Matt Berquist, Ryan Crotty/Brent Ward.
