Question:

Crusaders of Social Justice?

Do you really think that, in our current society, there are as many social injustices as people make out to be? Or do you think that a majority of the issues brought to light are unfounded, and that many of the crusaders for social justices are just doing it to have someone to talk down to and make them feel superior to?

I am asking this because my room mate is taking "race and ethnicity in american literature." Reading through one of his papers, he picked through a television commercial and "brought to light" several subconscious racially charged things that were almost certainly completely unintentional and coincidental.

It is my personal view that, as stated above, many of these people subconsciously make up things to call out as great social injustices so that they can gain a sense of superiority.

What do you think?

  1. I don't agree that many people manifest this behavior in an attempt to establish superiority.  Of course, some do, but they tend to occupy a fringe niche.

To me, the ones who dig that deep to find inequities are attempting to project blame, rather than accept full, personal responsibility for their life's direction.
