Crusaders’ star Sonny Bill Williams to play only for victory in final of Super Rugby
The Crusaders inside centre, Sonny Bill Williams, is ready to produce his best performance in the Super Rugby Final, today July 9th, against the Queensland Reds. The fan favourite of the Crusaders is also set to face Anthony Faingaa at the centre’s
positions. Talking to media on Saturday morning, Williams said that he is ready for the game and the challenge it brings.
Sonny Bill Williams admitted that there is always great pressure during a final match and so is the case with this Super Rugby final. However, he claimed that he loves to engage in big games and deal with charged atmosphere. Interestingly, Sonny Bill Williams
will face the Reds for first time in the ongoing Super Rugby championship 2011. He missed the previous clash during the regular season because of an injury.
Williams made his Super Rugby debut this season after making a code switch. Earlier, he was a National Rugby League player. He has participated in 14 Super Rugby outings for the Crusaders and earned 25 points for his team. The Canterbury player has also
represented the All Blacks in four international matches during the current year.
Earlier, Bill Williams had played plenty of National Rugby League. He started off is NRL career in 2004 and continued for four years before moving to French club Toulon in 2008.
When asked about the difference between NRL and Super Rugby, Williams replied that he has to relearn everything. He added that, "It's never been easy. I've had to work a lot on fundamentals because rugby and league are two totally different games. Definitely.
I've got an appreciation for the forwards - and I understand how hard the game is tactically, how skilful it is, playing in the backs,"
While talking about today’s pressure game he said that, "It's like going into the boxing ring. Your will has always got to be stronger than the other guy. When you've been in the game a while, these occasions are what you look for, what you play for."
Rugby commentators have cautioned Queensland Reds to be aware of the dangerous Sonny Bill Williams during the big game. The final will kick off in a few hours in Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. Keep updated by checking back on bettor.com for the latest news on
