Crusaders stun the Sharks by 44-28 – Super Rugby news
The Crusaders have surprised the Sharks with amazing performance At Twickenham. They defeated the Sharks by a comprehensive margin of 44-28 in a Super Rugby clash played in London.
This was the first Super Rugby match that is played outside the SANZAR soil. The Crusaders performance really inspired the British people who are the one of the major critics of the Super Rugby.
The match was organised in London for fundraising to help the earthquake-suffering people of Christchurch. Christchurch was struck by severe tremor on February 22, 2011 that caused significant damage to the city. The devastating quake left 182 people dead
as many as 160 missing and tens of thousands houses were collapsed.
It was a low crowded match that attracted only 35,000 people. The Kiwis were expecting a houseful Twickenham that has the capacity of 50,000 supporters. However, the result of the match proved really encouraging for Crusaders who belong to Christchurch.
The Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder was impressed with the play and he is expecting more Super Rugby in Britain. He assumed the little crowd as great one and said, “There was a great crowd out there. It shows it can be done. It was for adverse reasons why
the game was put on today but I hope the people enjoyed Super Rugby. There were some great skills, some great players, some real power and swings of momentum on show.”
Sonny Bill Williams and Carter presented a fine piece of play before the English supporters. Carter was outstanding on the day and scored 22 points without playing the whole game as he was replaced during the second half due to injury.
The Crusaders remained on top throughout the game and in the carried the day. Sonny Bill Williams was declared man of the match because of his superb performance.
Blackadder really appreciated his team and he is expecting same kind of display in the future. He said, “I'd like to think it could happen again. I thought it was just superb. It was just a wee taste of what our competition is like.”
