Question:

Crushing chest pain every 30 seconds or so?

I've lately been getting large crushing pain in the center of my chest every 20-30 seconds for about 1 hour at a time. It also doesn't happen everyday and usually happens at night.

The pain is like something squeezing or crushing my chest, it lasts for about 2-3 seconds.

Any ideas of what this could be?

  1. Either a lung infection, stress related muscle cramps or an oncoming heart attack. Call a doctor asap.

  2. There are a number of possible causes, some of which are life threatening.  You need to see a doctor immediately.  Please see this site for more info: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/chest_pai...

  3. I'd say:-

    1. Irritaray bowel syndrome, that's probably spelt wrong, however, it probably isn't this because it's in your' chest.

    2. Heart problems, from minor to major. from what you've got i'd say middle-class. Fixable. And probably some other stuff i've missed out.

    3. Not really what's wrong with you, but a little advice. If you live a bit of an unhealthy lifestyle, this is natures way of saying change it. Eat museli fro breakfast, do excersize three times a week, five vegetables a day etc.

    4. Go to a doctor.

  4. hiatal hernia,

    indigestion,

    here's a idea

    Go to a real doctor!

  5. You know there's usually a point when you realize, "Hey, maybe I should go to the hospital." This is probably it.

  6. sounds like bad indigestion if it is only happening at night. try to stay away from spicy foods for a little while. also avoid coffee, orange juice and tomatoes. if it does not go away you may want to see a doctor

  7. I'd really call a doctor, but one possibility is panic attacks...you can have one & not know what it is because you don't "feel" panicked. They can hurt your chest to breathe, make you feel dizzy or faint, etc.-I've had a couple in my life before I knew what it was. I was under stress from exams at college & didn't even realize...a friend finally told me what was happening to me. good luck.

  8. Have you been struck in the chest recently, had any past chest injuries, or lung or heart problems? How long has this been happening? Some things to think about, and definitely something to ask a health professional about.

  9. See a doctor. ASAP... not emergency room, but call your doctor right NOW and schedule and appointment.

  10. i experienced this once, but it wasnt continuous. It was only for about half an hour, then i fainted.

I would get it checked out !

  11. you don't mention your age, but it would likely be a panic attack.  You may want to consult with your doctor to make sure it isn't heart related.

  12. I would not mess around with asking people on yahoo .I would go to a Dr.It could be a number of things.Don't wait till' it's to late.

  13. No, but you should go to quick care and get it checked out.

  14. heart burn..i duno

  15. Go to the doctor! Please!

  16. I'd go to a doctor or in Australia there a free medical help line you can ring with trained people who can advise you over the phone on whether to get to a hospital or not.  May be something similar in other countries.  They'll be able to tell you exactly what the problem is.

In the meantime I'm guessing, and it's ONLY a guess, that it's something digestion related... otherwise you've survived multiple, multiple heart attacks!!

I'd start watching what you eat and see if there's a consistent ingredient on the nights this does happen (e.g. beer, chilli, curry, fried food, takeaway, etc), then try cutting them out.  And if you're taking any harsh medicines (ibuprofin, gout pills, etc, etc) and not eating when taking them, well there you go!
