The former Ajax academy graduate has a deep affection for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, where he played from 1973 to 1978. He was one of the main supporters of setting up La Masia, the youth academy that has supplied the Catalan club with the current crop of superstars.
He was held in great regard by former president Joan Laporta, who honoured his services by making him the honorary president of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078.
However, with Sandro Rosell coming to power in 2008, the new board has bee seen belittle every action of their predecessors. This has seen Cruyff stripped off his honorary position at the club.
In an interview with daily Ara, the Catalonia national football team manager stated that he does not have the best of relations with the current Camp Nou hierarchy.
Cruyff accepted that he is not famous on Rosell’s board, and added that he wants to give his services to the club.
"In the club they just want my name, not my knowledge," the tactician questioned.
Nevertheless, the legendary midfielder has good feelings about the setup at Camp Nou. He commented that he feels elated looking at La Blaugrana, which is run by people with footballing philosophy similar to his ideology.
"I look back and see that I have left but there are people who look at football like me," he stated.
Barcelona have enjoyed immense success over the course of last three and a half seasons. Guardiola has utilized Cruyff’s method to perfection, bringing numerous trophies to Catalonia.
The 2011 calendar year has seen them lift five trophies, having been crowned Spanish, European and Club World Cup champions on the way. They have also managed to add Spanish Super Cup and European Super Cup trophies to their cabinet. 
Despite their all round success in the year, they start the second half of the season behind rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona trail the capital club by three points, having accumulated 37 points from 16 La Liga fixtures.
