Catalonian national team manager Johan Cruyff says that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are missing former team manager Guardiola, and that nobody can be sure of Tito Vilanova’s competence as team manager.
The former Barcelona manager had quite a few things to say about his old club, their new management and new signings.
Speaking to Catalunya Radio’s El Club de la Mitjanit programme, Cruyff was giving his opinions on Barcelona’s new recruits, Real Madrid, and the current board of directors.
Winning 14 cups in 4 years, Pep Guardiola is going to be a hard act to follow and the former Barcelona team manager states, “Tito has this to overcome but it can be turned into a positive... Time will tell.”
The Dutchman continued to say, “Barca will miss Guardiola when we don’t win but mostly we’ll miss his presence, his way of thinking, his culture.”
Cruyff also gave his verdict on the two new summer recruits, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-Alba-c19111. Cruyff stated that both of the players need to be seen playing, and that playing for Barcelona is a very competitive career choice.
Cruyff said, “Jordi Alba has the advantage of having played here before and in Song’s case he did very well at Arsenal, although football in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 is different.”
“The same goes for the Coach. You don’t have to teach him how to play football, but to lead and teach others. It’s still early to tell.”
When asked about Madrid, the former manager stated that Barcelona can’t afford to underestimate Madrid, however Barcelona should do alright provided their players are at “100 per cent.”
Cruyff also had a few words to say about the Club’s general management. He disapproved of the Joan Gamper Trophy game for which he did not show up, and stated that, “to hold the Gamper when they did was no good to anybody. It makes no sense to play it after
La Liga has started and you can’t present the team with the Camp Nou half empty.”
He also states that the board’s first priority is money, and that they should concentrate on other things.
He especially was against the suspension of the club’s amateur sections, and states that if it had happened when he was President of Honour, then he would have stood down.
