Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD wins final of Serbian Championship – Volleyball news
The final of the Serbian Championship series of the men’s Superleague took place on April 16. The Serbian city that played host to the event was that of Beograd. The two teams that made it to the title match of the competition were Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD
as well as Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD. The venue of the competition was the “SPC Vojvodina” sports hall. The total number of spectators that came to watch the show were 2,000 in all.
It did not take long for the match to reach its close as BEOGRAD was able to make a clean sweep over their opponents. The match took a short time of 75 minutes to reach its close. The score board showed the following final set scores: 25-11, 25-18, and 25-21.
The start of the first set of the match started off with the lead going to BEOGRAD immediately. Once they had the lead, they were able to extend their advantage till the first technical time out. As soon as the two teams came back on to the courts, the BEOGRAD
squad increased the gap and reached the second technical time out quickly. The NOVI SAD squad kept trailing behind as the BEOGRAD launched themselves forwards in order to secure the opening frame of the game at 25-11.
The loss of the first set made the NOVI SAD team start the second frame of the game with some spirit but all the motivation they could muster soon diminished as BEOGRAD was able to take control and take the lead for themselves.
Despite the fact that NOVI SAD tried to close in the gap, they failed to overtake their opponents and BEOGRAD secured another set at 25-18 in order to gain a dominance of 2-0.
The third set started with both the teams playing competitive volleyball as NOVI SAD was able to improve their performance under the increased pressure of losing. For most part of the game, no one was sure where the tables would turn as both the sides stayed
neck to neck.
However, it was BEOGRAD that was able to get its hands on the third frame at 25-21.
