I thought it looked so interesting, im not one to run around saying "there are weird creatures on this earth and im gonna prove it!!" I just really like the idea because it intrigues me.

I told my boyfriend being scared and cautious at first, but he burst out laughing and made serious fun of me because he doesnt believe in it. He said cryptozoologists are like the guy off of "white noise" the film. (sad old man). I mean I wouldnt make a career out of it, but it intrests me.

What do you think?

Is it stupid?

  1. What is the worst that can happen? You get to hang out in wild places around the world and hunting is a natural human instinct so it feels very fulfilling.

Just in the pacific northwest alone, you can walk three feet off the road into the forest and have to look up to see the sky and would not be able to see an animal if it were a foot away from you. Yet people that have never been out of their living room know for sure tht animals that are not already discovered can't possibly exist.

  2. Just go into zoology.  You can choose to ruin--er, I mean direct you career in the crypto- direction once you're qualified to do so.

  3. If you're interested in cryptozoology, become a zoologist or a biologist. These are legitimate scientific fields of study, they should lead to a decent career and they will prepare you for any cryptozoology studies you want to undertake, as a hobby or professionally. And what's more, people will take you much more seriously if you have a degree in one of these subjects.

  4. It depends, there are undiscovered species on the planet.Scientists love being first. It must be a thrill finding an animal even an insect. Then showing it to the world. That's certainly not stupid. If,on the other hand you want to be a monster hunter.Setting your sights on Bigfoot and Nessie.I wouldn't say it's stupid.Just pretty silly, very silly in fact.

  5. Just a personal opinion: No field of inquiry is stupid and your boyfriend is a closed minded (enter your own word here). There are many books on the subject.  I always check for the authors education and background but a journalist can write an accurate science book just as easily as a biologist. The two (writer and scientists) working together usually makes books both informative and readable. Don't let others stop you from exploring your interest.

    Michael John Weaver, M.S.

  6. No it's not stupid it's what you like. Don't take seriously anyones  judgments about you

  7. Lots of people do make a living with crypto-zoology if you have an angle. The very name cryptozoology means that it is about hoaxes and fake animals, otherwise it would just be zoology. Think about it.

However, you might find something like entomology, paleintology, or endangered species zoology your ideal career choice.

  8. Actually, i heard that there used to be an international cryptozoology museum but unfortunately, it closed down due to lack of funds. My dear, you ought to have a lot of dough to pull this out. It doesn't sound stupid, just impractical, yet cute.
