Crysis 3 gets new co-op Survival Mode – Video Games Update
Crytek has released a new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi first person shooter (FPS), Crysis 3, which shows the brand new Hunter Mode game-play.
Crytek has released new details about the upcoming ‘Hunter Mode’ which will be a team based co-op mode with up to sixteen players.
How it works:
The mode will start with fourteen regular C.E.L.L. soldiers armed to the teeth versus two Hunters with the Nanosuit but armed only with the Bow. The premise of the mode is that the hunters have taken down a drop ship of C.E.L.L. troopers and are now using
the Nanosuit technology to slowly pick the troopers off as the C.E.L.L. trooper team tries to survive and reach the Evacuation point.
The time allowed for this mode is only 90 seconds which means that gamers will be forced to work as a team and act quickly if they want to successfully survive or hunt depending on the role they are assigned by the game.
It may seem at first that the Hunters might be outnumbered seven to one but thing will quickly change across the map as any gamer, playing as a C.E.L.L. Trooper, when taken down by a Hunter respawns a short while later as another Hunter. This means that
the playing field is completely changed by the end of the 90 seconds as just a few soldiers are trying to survive an onslaught of Hunters.
How it feels:
It’s a fact that there haven’t been any recent games that have managed to capture the true essence of the Predator films. The last game to feature the Predator was Aliens vs. Predator got pretty average reviews and gamers in general were disappointed with
the experience. Gamers will not have to wait any more as from the trailer released; this mode looks like it sets to recreate the Predator movie experience.
Hunters will be using the Nanosuit armour abilities such as super strength, super speed, Maximum Armour and Invisibility to take down the troopers efficiently. The demo on Gamescom showed two hunters against seven C.E.L.L. Troopers and by the end of the
round there was just a single Trooper remaining trying to survive with 20 second still left to go.
Gamers will be able to try it for themselves when the game comes out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC next year.
