C’s Paul Pierce and OKC’s Kevin Durant announced as ‘Players of the Month’ for March - NBA Update
Boston Celtics veteran forward Paul Pierce and Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant were honoured as NBA’s Eastern and Western Conference players of the month respectively, for the games played during March.
Pierce paced Greens to a 12-5 record in the past month, which saw the Celtics gain a position of strength in the Eastern Conference. He averaged 22.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists during that span and tallied a season high
36 points and 10 boards in a 102-95 victory over Charlotte Bobcats on March 26th.
He went all offensive on the hapless Bobcats and was contended with his aggressive performance.
He went on to score 25 or more points in 6 games during the past month. The 34 years old forward has been a solid and consistent support for the Greens since 1998. On March 9 in a match against the Portland Trail Blazers he became
the 16th player in NBA history to play 1000 games for a single team. He is averaging 19.0 points, 4.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds this season and is a big reason behind C’s 4th Playoff spot in Eastern Conference.
On the other hand, Western Conference player of the month Kevin Durant has been simply brilliant throughout the season and especially in the past month. He averaged 27.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists to grab his second consecutive
Player of the month title.
 KD played a pivotal role in Thunder 11-5 record in the past month. After winning two consecutive scoring titles in the past two seasons, the Thunder talisman is averaging 27.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and is ranked second
for scoring in the league.
On March 23rd he came up with his month’s best performance in Thunder overtime, 149-140, victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Durant netted 40 and recorded his season high 17 boards to help his team surpass Kevin
Love 51 points. In the month, he netted 20 plus points 15 times and tallied more than 30 on 5 occasions.
On March 25th in an epic game against Miami Heat, Durant marshalled all players with 28 points, 8 assists and 9 rebounds to help his team trounce Heat 103-87.
Due to his unprecedented achievements this season, KD is being tipped to cross LeBron James as MVP.
