Ctrl+Shift+Esc... Have Microsoft destroyed one of the great symbols of PCs?

With Vista, now the quick shortcut into the Task Manager is Ctrl+Shift+Esc instead of Ctrl+Alt+Del (Pressing that now brings up an options menu where you can choose the Task Manager amongst other things). Has Microsoft destoryed the greatest three-key salute for PCs? Your thoughts/opinions?

  1. It's a NT thing.  Windows 2000 did the same thing (as does XP Professional).

Instead of CTRL+ALT+DEL opening task manager it brings up several options - one of which is task-manager.  On a network (such as a college or business), that's how you change your logon password or secure your computer without logging off.

  2. no, personally I find it helpful, when I want to lock my computer I just press ctrl alt delete and then hit enter and my computer is safe from the kids in the house.

I also love it how you can change the user, log off and even change your password from it as well, it's a great feature in my opinion and I don't wish it to go.

  3. You're a little late on the draw, there -- this functionality has been around since Windows 2000.

  4. Well, I personally liked the easyness of Ctrl, Alt, Delete. And Microsoft already screwed up by MAKING Vista, I heard unless you want to spend about 600 US dollars, You aren't getting a good OS. I have 4 computers. Windows 95, Windows 98, and this one's XP. The other is soon to have Win95.
