Cuba excurrency: which is better? Convert USD to Euro then to CUC or directly exchange USD to CUC in Cuba?

Planning to visit Cuba. Have a question on cuba excurrency:

I have USD, should I exchange USD to Euro and then exchange Euro to Cuban convertibles in Cuba or just directly change USD to Cuban convertibles in Cuba?

I heard 1 USD = 0.8 CUC (due to 10% commission). WOnder if anyone recently been to Cuba has an idea of the exchange rate of Euro to CUC?
