  1. It is an amazing place for a holiday. You go once and guaranteed you'll be back over and over again. The beaches are gorgeous and unlike other beaches. Not to say that other places aren't beautiful, but Cuba's beaches are clean (and I have yet to find them smell bad).

The water is three shades of turquoise and the sand is soft powdery white...but the people are wonderful. They are warm-hearted, kind, hospitable and will make you feel welcome and at home. Once you make a friend, they will never forget you for life (especially if you are genuine).

There are many beautiful places in Cuba. Richard K mentioned a good place in Holguin.

You can also look at Cayo Coco if you want something relaxing (but fun and full of activities if you want as well). It's a little secluded off the main island as it is located in the cayos (the keys) and is about a 45 minute drive into the main city of Morón (in the province of Ciego de Ávila).

Hotel Tryp Cayo Coco is one of my personal favourites. The Animación team (Entertainment team) are so much fun and will make your stay, young or old, a wonderful experience. The food at this resort is excellent, as well as the accomodations, entertainment, and working staff. Most people I've come across have wished to stay at this resort over the others along that beach strip because they know how relaxing but lively it is there...and just the overall atmosphere and design layout of the resort being open-concept and bright, easy to find your way around.

There are many day trips to take that are fun and exciting and seeing the 'real' Cuba, the real historical culture, new and old history.

Havana is a trip I recommend anywhere you stay. From Cayo Coco it's an hour's plane ride and you can either spend the day or an overnight trip.

Santa Lucia/Camaguey is another beautiful part of Cuba and is located right there nearby the locals.

See the links for what you might prefer.

  2. great place to go but be aware that the food is not that great and you dont really have a lot to choose from .........enjoy

  3. I'm with Richard K.

I went to the sol rio luna y mares for my honeymoon last august.

It was amazing, would definately go back!

  4. There are no bad points about Cuba, its the most fantastic place to go on holiday to, if you like fast food like McDonalds, KFC and fish and chips your going to be disappointed as there is none of that there, its just good wholesome healthy food in Cuba and beautiful food too, if you want total peace and quiet I would suggest Cayo Coco to you as thats what you will get there, its beautiful and very romantic, Varadero if you want nightlife and restaurants other than your hotel ones, the beaches in Cuba are to die for, its like talcum powder between your toes is the sand there, the ocean is beautiful and clear but bathtub warm and safe, I would suggest you take every toiletery item and medication item you will need for your holiday in Cuba as they are very hard to find there and if you do they are very expensive, spray mossie repelent on your legs from the knees downwards each night before you go out, no problem with mossies its the sand flies that bite your ankles if you have no repelent on, take sterling with you if your going from the UK, all hotels have a small bank were you can change your money for Cuban Pesos and you don't get ripped off either, don't forget your visa that you need to enter Cuba and remember to put 25 Cuban Pesos away when you get there as you have to pay that amount to come back out of Cuba again, take bread and banana into the ocean with you from the hotel restaurant and watch the fish come swarming round you to feed off them, remember to have your camera ready for photos of it, chill out and relax when your there, you will love Cuba its just so beautiful and the people will do anything to make your holiday even better for you, I'm going to Varadero for two weeks this Friday and cannot wait to get back there again, have fun when you go.

  5. There are no bad points. Cuba is fantastic, beautiful beaches, mountains, history and some of the friendliest most welcoming people you will ever meet.  My favorite resort is Sol Rio Luna y Mares, excellent food, great staff and a gorgeous  white, sandy beach.  You fly into Holguin and transfer to the resort which is at Guardalavaca a beautiful beach area.  Check the links below you will see some great pics of the resort plus other areas of Cuba

  6. Varadero is popular, cayo largo,Cayo guillermo, cayo coco etc etc  - all really popular resorts - very luxurious.

Be careful at the airport and make sure your baggage is not overweight as Cuba have a crazy rule which allows them to charge you for being overweight on arrival even though you may have paid the overweight charge in your country of origin - they still charge you and the charge is what they decide and can be ten times as much as what you were originally charged. Be careful of that.  Other than that - the people are beautiful and so is the country. Have fab time.

  7. Its a fantastic place to go no matter where you are on the island, the people are so friendly, and things are so so cheap, go and enjoy it, wish i were with you.
