Cuba wins by 3-0 in Pool G match: FIVB Volleyball Women´s Junior World Championship
The second match of Pool G in the FIVB Volleyball Women´s Junior World Championship took place between Cuba and Tunisia on Wednesday, 27th July. The venue of the match was the Eduardo Dibos Gymnasium in Lima, Peru as the Cubans demolished the
Tunisians in a clean sweep.
Tunisia could not do much to challenge the Cubans, who won each set of the match by a commanding margin. By the time that the Cubans were celebrating their decisive win, the score board showed the following final set scores: 25-15, 25-13 and 25-12.
The coach of the Cuban team, Pupo Robinson, made the following comments after the match had ended: “We went to the field for preparing our tactical preparation against Japan. Tunisia did not offer too much resistance, but it helped us for preparing ourselves.”
On the other hand, the Tunisian coach, Ben Kaid Slim, gave the following statements at the press conference after his team had lost: “It was a forgettable match. We could not do anything.”
The player that was able to make the most points for the Cuban team was Yunieska Robles as she tallied a total of 16 points in the entire match. Robles was helped by Regla Gracia who kept the scoreboard ticking by adding 11 points of her own. On the Tunisian
side, Maroua Boughanmi made the highest number of points for her team by scoring seven.
The start of the first set of the game went in favour of the Cubans as the Tunisians made numerous errors. As the second technical time out was reached, the Cubans were ahead by five points. As both teams came back on the courts, it was only a matter of
time before the Cubans bagged the opening set of the game at 25-15.
The Tunisian team came out strong in the second set but the Cubans quickly recovered their stride and had the lead at 8-3 when the first technical time out was reached. Tunisia tried to close in the gap at 14-6 but the Cubans were going strong at 16-7. The
Tunisians kept trailing as the Cubans sealed the deal at 25-13.
The Tunisians tried to pull themselves together in the third set by keeping the score close but the Cubans were able to take the lead at 8-4 that was later extended to 16-8. It did not take long for the Cubans to conquer the third and final set of the game
at 25-12.
With their recent win, the Cuban team has managed to secure two wins against no losses in the second round of the tournament whereas the Tunisians have yet to earn a win.
