Hi! I am having culture day in Social Studies class. I need to have a GOOD nonalchoholic recipe for a Cuban Mojito. I looked online, but still nothing that is nonalcholholic. I am EXTREME need. And also, if you have really good information on five major tourist attractions in Cuba. If you could also include why they are famous. And I am just letting you know, that our teacher did give us permission to use Yahoo! Answers. So, please if you have BOTH of those, and Yahoo! Answer points is like a competition to you,

  1. Cuban Mojito is to be enjoyed with Rum.

No alcoholic Mojito is not a Mojito.

    That simple.

Let me explain something else to you.

Do you know the famous Mexican drink called MARGARITA ?

    Ok, this is:

    Tequila

    Cointreau

    Salt

    Lemon juice

    Ice.

You take off the alcoholic elements like the Tequila and the Cointreau.

You have left, salt, ice and lemon juice.

Now you have a new drink called:  LEMONADE on the rocks.

    Best for you.

  2. This link will give you as many major tourist attractions as you want with detailed information, etc.

    Here are 2 recipes:

    Non-Alcoholic Mojito

    Dash of lime juice

    1 tsp. sugar

    Ice

    3 mint leaves

    Club soda

    1. Muddle two mint leaves, dash of lime juice and sugar in the bottom of a tall glass.

    2. Fill the glass with ice.

    3. Fill the glass with club soda and the dash of lime juice.

    4. Garnish with the last mint leaf.

    ----------or------------

    Key lime

    Mint leaves

    Swizzle stick

    Tall glass

    Club soda

    Sugar

    12 mint leaves

    1/2 key lime

    4 teaspoons sugar

    Crushed ice

    7 ounces club soda

    1. Set aside 1 mint leaf. Slice a lime in half and cut a wheel from one half of the fruit.

    2. Crush the remaining mint leaves and place in a tall glass.

    3. Squeeze a key lime half into the glass.

    4. Add the sugar, and then fill the glass with crushed ice. Leave a little room at the top of the glass so that you won’t overflow when you pour and stir the club soda.

    5. Pour in the club soda and stir.

*EDIT: lol....yes joelou is absolutely right! A mojito is really not a mojito unless it has the rum ;-)

But of course because you're still in school and underage, it's understandable you'd need non-alcoholic recipe. Keep in mind that when you're of age, you must try it with the rum.

Let me give you a recipe WITH the rum...perhaps you can include that in your project:

    Cuban Mojito recipe

Original authentic recipe from Havana, Cuba:

    1 teaspoon powdered sugar

Juice from 1 lime (2 ounces)

    4 mint leaves

    1 sprig of mint

Havana Club white Rum (2 ounces)

    2 ounces club soda

Place the mint leaves into a long mojito glass (often called a "collins" glass) and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it.  You'll want about two ounces of lime juice, so it may not require all of the juice from a single lime.  Add the powdered sugar, then gently smash the mint into the lime juice and sugar with a muddler (a long wooden device pictured below, though you can also use the back of a fork or spoon if one isn't available).  Add ice (preferably crushed) then add the rum and stir, and top off with the club soda (you can also stir the club soda in as per your taste).  Garnish with a mint sprig.

    So delicious and refreshing!

  3. Hi there! Tropicales gave you theMojito receipts, here are the tourist attractions (just google them):

    - La Havana: Capital of Cuba (UNESCO World Heritage)

    - “La Bodeguita del Medico” and “El Floridita” (Very famous bars in Havana where the American writer Ernest Hemingway used to drink his Daiquiri and his Mojito)

    - Trinidad (very nice city in colonial style and also UNESCO World Heritage)

    - Viñales (great countryside and lots of tobacco plantations)

    - Grave of Che Guevara in Santa Clara (Monument)

    - Beaches of Varadero, Santa Maria and Santa Clara (most touristic beaches)

Good Luck for your culture day!

To make it easier to decide: I don't care about the points I do this just for fun.  :-)
