Will he be banned from the olmpics or given a medal....the refereeing has been shambolic and strongly favoured the home nation, its becoming like the eurovision (political voting).

  1. i don't see China dominated in Tae Kwon Do. It's got only one Gold and one Bronze (or whatever). Korea has got 4. I would say that referees favour koreans more cause that's where the sport come from.

  2. I agree with Mark.He should be banned. When learning martial arts you also learn discipline and respect, something that this guy seems to have forgot.

  3. According to the Associated Press, both he and his coach are banned for life from being involved in competition in TKD.

This was not a "political" decision.  Anybody who shows such blatant disrespect in the martial arts should be banned.  It is also appropriate for his coach to be banned.  There should be zero tolerance for such bad behavior.

  4. He has been banned for life from all WTF events, World Championships, Pan Am Games, Olympics, etc.  I think this is a fair and justified punishment.

While I think the center referees did fine in the TKD tournament, the 4 corner judges did poor job throughout the tournament on what is/is not a point.  Way too much controversy on points.  They seemed to only award points for rear leg round kicks at full contact.  I saw a lot of front leg round kicks that were not counted, and even several head kicks that were not counted.  It didnt appear to favor one fighter over another, it just seemed that they were not awarding points.

As for the Cuban's future, there are other TKD associations.  He will probably still work with and help train other Cuban athletes, but won't be able to attend.

I think his coaches are to blame. They have an injury time clock and they need to watch it.

That being said, I think you can continue with a broken toe. He was standing up as time expired, and his trainers were getting ready to get off the mat. Not to mention he was leading 3-2.

The other guy starts celebrating like he knocked him out, when really he was losing.

By the letter of the law, the ref was right. But I know I would be pissed off too.

But....no matter how ticked I was, I would not have kick the ref in the face.

In contrast, Nigerian Bronze Medalist Chika Chukumerije was a class act throughout. Even bowing to the ref when receiving a deduction point. He was one of the most exciting fighters of the tournament too.

  5. He and his coach have both been banned. in my opinion this was a blatant disregard of the rules and etiquette by him and his immediate support.i have no respect for this kind of display, talk about throwing his toys out of the pram.

  6. China only won two medals in taekwondo, what home nation bias are you talking about? The Cuban will not only be banned from Olympic competition, but from all international competition. If his country has any sense, he'll be banned from competing there as well.

  7. Lets agree we loved the way he vented his frustraston on the ref. It just opend the judges eyes on how buiest the refs were so i say good on him but hes unfortunatly band for life and will not get a medal

  8. He has been banned for life along with his coach.... Half the gold medals China got was from sports with judging like everything else with that country if they want it they buy it.

  9. He has been banned from the sport for life along i believe with his coach.  I agree though about some of the bias and not just in the Taekwando, but boxing, and gymnastics.
