What do you think about the actions of these Cubs fans? I'm not saying what this Brewers fan did was right, but what these Cubs fans did was by far worse and just goes to show what Cubs fans are really like.

  1. Wow, when was the last time that you heard about Cubs fans attacking an opposing fan like this?! Oh... that's right... it was just a few days ago:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/2...

Well, at least Cubs fans *usually* behave themselves at away games. Oh, wait... no they don't. Drunken Cubs fans have become such a problem at Miller Park that the Brewers had to start beefing-up security during Cubs games a few years ago. And Cubs fans are just as drunk and violent everywhere else that they go.

  2. look at the names of these guys...

Boguslaw "Bob" Czapla, 37, of Elmwood Park was charged with mob action and aggravated battery. His brother, Jaroslaw "Jerry" Czapla, 31, of Huntley and Maciej "Mike" Trojnar, 33, of Elmwood Park...

they sound like some of the finest trailor park trash that the USA has to offer...

  3. The Brewers fan should have never thrown the bag of trash he provoked the fight. He should have just ignored the taunting from the Cubs fan on the bus. Instead he instigated the whole thing and that's why he got ticketed as well. Although, a 34 year old man should know better then to beat someone up over something so trivial. Both sides look bad.

  4. "...goes to show what Cubs fans are really like."

Just because a few idiot Cubs fans did something like that doesn't mean we're all bad. Any fan of any team that physically abuses someone else because they like different teams is an embarrassment not only to his fellow fans, but to the entire game of baseball.

Not all of us are like that. I respect the game, I respect other fans that respect me first. Any Brewers fans that respect Cubs fans and like to talk about actual baseball are fine with me. All teams have bad fans, we're not all like that.

  5. This is typical of Cubs fans on the road. They go to the host stadiums and act all loud and annoying. I saw it is Philly and Cincy. They constantly stand up looking around, yelling like it is game 7 of the World Series. But they always have to turn around and look at everyone to say "look at me - I am in Philly but cheering for the Cubs". It has been so annoying that my wife - a huge Cubs fan - has stopped going to road games. At home, they act fine. Mostly because it is full of Iowans. But on the road - they suck.

  6. To indict all Cubs fans based upon the actions of 4 drunks is unfair and dangerous. We could infer from the Brewers fan's conduct that all Brewers fans are equally crude, rude, and socially unacceptable as you claim Cubs fans are. After all, the Wisconsin man did start the fight by tossing a bag of trash.

What you have here are 4 socially-retarded drunks who let taunting escalate into a criminal incident. What the Illinois men did was reprehensible and I would hope that they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Still, this incident could have been avoided, and the Wisconsin could have avoided a world of hurt, if he had simply walked away.

I'm embarrassed by the actions of these Cubs fans and I would stress that they do not represent Cubs fans in general.

Smack talk is part of the game. Beating somebody into submission because you don't like their team is not only wrong, it's against the law..

  7. Cubs fans are a**holes.

  8. if anything it was the cubs fans who provoked it.  I'm sure they were showboating like f'ing crazy.  He had the balls to do something about it, so they gang up on him.  Bunch of drunk chicago fans get in an uneven fight and hospitalize a man, not really helping the stereotype.  Not all cubs fans are bad for sure, but this is kinda typical.

  9. I'm not surprised. You are going to be bashed by Cub fans, though, who will either defend these guys or will deny that Cub fans are not like that for the most part. So, then, where did the Cub fan reputation come from? And it's funny, but just about every regular Cub fan here has me blocked, too, because. . .um. . .they are such good sports?

  10. And I'm a Cubs fan who also has been to games in other cities, and have heard fans that were rude and nasty in all of them. But does that automatically mean that every single one of those fans is a jerk? Because if it does, I could assume that all Brewers fans were as well because of a few experiences I have had in both County Stadium and Miller Park.

People who live in the real world are smart enough to realize that ANY large group of people is bound to have some jerks mixed in with it. Do you automatically every one in that group is because of those people who are? I've dealt with jerks in every walk of life. I've seen jerks at ballgames, in restaurants, in stores, and even in forums such as this. But to write off every person as a jerk is not only narrow minded, but probably even slightly prejudiced.

Unless you were there, you will never know the true story. While I would never defend the actions of any fan who takes it to this extreme, and am particularly embarrassed by the fact that this is the second incident involving Cubs fans that has happened in the last couple of weeks, I would also not hold the Brewers fan completely blameless.

If I were to base my opinion of some of the Brewers fan's I have encountered on this site, I would assume them all to be a bunch of idiots who can only come up with such intelligent comments about the Cubs as "They haven't won in 100 years" (but have been to the post season 5 times since the Brewers last and only appearance) or "They have an easy schedule" or  the most intelligent, "Cubs Suck".

I choose to treat these fans as the minority of Brewers fans. I am sure that most of them are intelligent, well spoken people. It's a shame that others choose to simply take the worst behavior of any fans and hold that up as the norm.

  11. Unfortunatly, every team has those fans & you are no better than a racist when you stereotype a groups of people because of the actions of a few people that happen to be in that group. that's right, you saying "....and just goes to show what Cubs fans are really like." & "I have been to MLB games where there have been Cubs fans and they have been down right rude and nasty." because of the actions of a handful of people, is no different than saying derogatory remarks about a race of people.

I've been a Cubs fan since the day i knew what a baseball was & have NEVER attacked a Reds fan, Cards fan etc. I have been to away games at Miller Park, Busch, US Cellular  & in Cincy. I have been to away NFL games in Green Bay, Soldier Field, Cincy, Philly & St Louis. I am here to tell you each & everyone of those places has fans just like the ones that are in your link.

I'm sick & tired of uneducated barbs at Cubs fans. The Cubs fans I know are baseball smart, know thier team (even the farm) & are loyal. they may be 14, 21, 38, 50 or 86 but they have been dedicated Cubs fans for life & have NEVER witnessed their team win a World Series. Each & every year they are geeked for the season because it IS NEXT YEAR. forgive some of them for being giddy about the season our Cubbies are having BUT....... DO NOT lump us in with that riff-raff. We don't condone what they did.

    Eamus Catuli.

  12. Some people are stupid. If the Brewers fan didn't throw the bag of trash, that whole thing could've been avoided.

  13. wow now the brewers are getting beat up in yet another way..

  14. That has got to be one of the best baseball stories of all time.....where's Chuck Norris when you need him
