Question:

Cubs turning into the Yankees?

Seems that they're spending more than ever and extending and signing big contracts, as if they're trying to buy their world series like the Yankees. Anyone else agree?

  1. No the Yankees will always be the Yankees and no one can compete with that

  2. I hope so.

  3. At least when the Yankees spend money, they win a few World Championships.

  4. The Angels are getting a lot of big name players now too. I have nothing against them- don't take this as an insult- I'm just putting it out there.  And Carrie, over-spending but under-achieving is not good, so this isn't something to be proud of.

  5. First they have to win a World Series.  Then they would be turning into the Phillies, Royals, Indians, White Sox, Braves, Pirates etc  who have won at least one in the last 100 yrs.

Then if they win again they would be turning into Red Sox, A's

Cardinals, Dodgers etc who have won more than once.

When they get somewhere in the 20's, you can say "hey guys, the Cubbies are turning into the Yankees.

  6. "Turning into the Yankees" shouldn't be about spending money as much as it is about winning and honoring the game. The Yankees existed before 2004, just so you know.

Quiz time! Of all the teams to have won the World Series, which team had the highest payroll? (Hint: It's not the Yankees.)

  7. Well, there is a difference. Cubs ownership doesn't actually care about winning. They are trying to raise the value of the team before they sell it. Yankees ownership, though obnoxious and prone to making stupid decisions, is actually motivated by a desire to win.

  8. Even though the Yankees haven't won since 2000, before the Cubs turn in the Yankees, they should win a WS first

  9. no
